Shredded BBQ Beef and Cornbread in First
A couple days ago I flew DFW-DTW in first, and I was really surprised when our meal choices were pasta salad or shredded BBQ beef and cornbread (along with a salad and breadsticks). I have never come across shredded BBQ beef being served for dinner on NW, let alone any other airline. Of course, I gave it a shot, and it was pretty tasty. Well, it was as good as you could expect. I don't think it could've beaten the finer BBQ establishments in Dallas, but whatever, the cornbread was darn good too.
Has anyone else come across this meal in the domestic network other than DFW flights? Definitely, it's an interesting meal for first class, and a nice change of pace, especially because it was so well done. ^

Was the BBQ served hot, or at least reasonably warm? I assume the pasta salad was served cold.

I remember seeing it on LGA-MEM, how often do meals cycle? and how many menus are out there at one time? If you do several transcons per month (through different hubs), is it very likely you'll have the same meals?

On my flight from Tokyo to LAX earlier this year, we were served some sort of a shredded BBQ beef deal in coach. Also, had a similar meal in coach on AA when I flew MIA-CCS in coach this year.

I had it AUS-MSP in November and SFO-MSP a couple of days ago. Hardly elegant, but probably the tastiest hot meal I've had in domestic first on NW.

I don't know whether this had anything to do with the almost unanimous lack of interest in the vegetarian whatever-it-was among the WBC passengers
- one kid even asked for the main-cabin turkey sandwich instead! The ravioli seemed a lot more popular.

I'd expect to see at least some of the same components, but meal option availability can change from day to day. My HNL-MSP flight that got delayed was originally offering (in WBC) a chicken breast with green beans and potato or a vegetarian some-kind-of-pasta (lasagna maybe?), but when it actually flew the next day, the pasta had been replaced by a cheese ravioli.

I've actually found the servicing on NW98/99 particularly to be pretty standard. I don't know exactly how many meals they'll rotate on this route, but it's not enough to keep the taste buds going when boarding. I much rather pick up a good plate lunch from L&L and eat it on board (I think I just outed myself).
FWIW, Sam Choy avoids the meals on NW98/99 as seen from personal experience sitting behind him.

I think it's catered in MEM
I had it recently on CUN-MEM. An NWA tech officer next to me told me that on that route the meals for the return flight are packed in dry ice and carried in the belly of the outbound flight. Pretty tasty -- VERY similar to the "pulled beef" served @ Interstate Bar-B-Q in MEM food court.
