In late-afternoon trading in New York, shares of Delta were down 4 cents, or 5%, to 74 cents, on speculation that Delta would file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after the market close. Northwest shares were up 29 cents, or 18.5%, to $1.86, on speculation that instead of seeking protection from creditors it would continue trying to restructure outside bankruptcy.

Channel 4 in MSP is scrolling across the bottom of the screen (4:20 pm CST) that the Board has decided to file ASAP and not wait for staff concessions.
