It wasn't posted here, but DL's lifetime program isn't nearly as generous as AMR's. With DL you only are credited with MQMs (or, for those flights you made before the MQM :-: enhancement :-:, actual miles flown) toward MM status. At 2 MM you get lifetime Gold, 4 MM lifetime Plat.

"Marriott chooses not to publicise this."

Marriott ran my college's cafeteria and student center, where I was a loyal patron for all four (okay, five) years of my undergraduate career. Wonder if all those meals count towards lifetime status...

Welcome to Flyertalk, hoyateach.

I'll look in upping my Marriott stays too.

I am also hoping my unofficial million miler status on US (you have to call to find this info) down the road may mean something on UA's better recognition of miles flown status, should the two airlines merge.

I was able to take advantage (no pun intended) of the USAIR/AA mutual awards swap a few years back which contributed greatly to help me rack up over 1mm miles in AA in about a year. I didn't realize this until toward the end of the swap program, but any US awards booked on AA metal contributed to the AA miles total. Three F rt to Narita and I was up 300,000 AA miles. I would think partner points/miles flown on AA metal should still result in AA miles appearing toward mm status.

As a mileage earning opportunity, on the rare occasions an airline bumps me on an award tix to another airline, I try to get AA. Mrs. Outoftown and I were able to get AA miles for US booked award travel when we were bumped from a US Z class ticket to Y class on AA. It happened twice to us last year, both times on international flights. With the 100% Platinum bonus I got, this was a substantial chunk of miles toward mm status at 0 cost.

A lifetime with Asiana

Another (non US centric) option that I'm pretty sure I didn't see mentioned above
OZ gives lifetime membership - giving you unlimited *A Gold Status - for accummulating 1million miles on *A flights.
www.flyasiana.com will give you more blurb

If anyone knows what the free gift is for reaching Platinum please let us know - it's supposed to be very nice

AA lifetime is certainly the easiest to get, since all points count, even those which come from Eggo's

Off the top of my head, United has it for 1,000,000 actual flown miles. Grants you lifetime Premier Executive status, plus a few extra perks with annual upgrades. I believe American also has lifetime status at 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 mile thresholds, but that is from all earnings, including, say, credit card bonus miles. Someon who flies AA might have better insight into this. As for Hawaiian, don't know about that one.

AA = 1MM gets you lifetime Gold status, 2MM for Platinum. These miles are from ALL sources, not just flown miles.

QF 7000 status credits = lifetime Silver, 14000 status credits = lifetime gold (earned on QF and OW flights)

SQ 1000 PPS sectors or 1,800,000 PPS miles = lifetime PPS (earned on SQ flights in first or business only)

There seems to be a resurgence of interest in this topic.

This thread explains elite life membership quite clearly.

Perhaps it should be merged into the more popular (more viewed) thread, which has a better topic title.

Flyertalk has a handy search feature.

Here, for example, are the results of a search on this forum for "lifetime elite".

Welcome to Flyertalk.

AS has lifetime status for 1,000,000 BIS miles. Not too many people make it.
