I found this deal on Fatwallet: Get $30 just for paying bills
I was using payments to Sprint and Verizon to get the 5 debits a month anyway, so I just registered my debit card and threw in a few payments of 25 dollars or more (the minimum under the terms, and it has to be to specific types of companies).
I figure this should cover the $25 for the debit card, at least, since I don't see anything in the terms of either that preclude getting both.

two quick questions - am i correct in assuming that these bills need to show up as non-pin transactions (like the 5x month) to count? and also are these payments made through a billpay feature of the chase website or just directly with the cell phone / utility provider ?
thanks
thanks

Avoid a monthly service fee:
- Maintain required minimum average monthly balance OR
- Link to a Chase Premier Checking or Chase Premier Platinum Checking OR
- Link to an active Chase business credit card OR
- Have 5 or more debit card purchases post each statement period
For my personal account, the banker opened a Chase Premier Checking instead of a the basic Chase Checking, and linked the BusinessClassic account to it, and I pay $0 maintenance fees for either account. Haven't made a debit transaction beyond the minimum for the miles.

sorry then
I have the basic chase personal account, and have no business CC with them. So linking is not an option. I was told 5 swipes per account or direct deposit were only way to avoid fee.
I stand corrected and I guess I will have to go by chase and see if they can upgrade me to the premier or premier platinum. Are there minimum balance clauses for those accounts or monthly fees? there had to be a reason they gave my thrifty butt the basic account.

That is incorrect. I didn't realize there was a 5 transaction minimum but it is most definitely avoidable. Right off my paperwork for my Chase BusinessClassic Checking:

I also have a Chase Premier Checking. But if you go look at the terms to keep that free, it says it must be a linked to a Chase Business Checking account or something like that. Effectively, they are both supposed to keep each other free, but my banker said you can't use the conditions in both terms to keep each other free. I can look up and post the exact terms when I get home later today.

$30 for 3 bill payments ...
what about the second part - do you have to make these payments through the 'bill payment' section of chase.com or can you just use your debit card # on at&t's website, for example ?

You can just go to your phone or cable company webpage and make your payment there - but by choosing "credit card" as your form of payment (despite the fact that the card and account say "debit").

I just now clicked on the link (for the regular, non business, account): https://www.chase.com/index.jsp?pg_n..._Consumer_9938
It says September 30, 2010 (although earlier, or via a different link, it may have said June 30, 2010).
Clicking on the link for the business account, a June 30, 2010 date comes up:https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?...&ID=0000009898

Has anyone applied for the business account via above link and got confirmation of the miles after June 30, 2010?

Just posted my last remaining 22,500. So that is 50,000 from 1 personal and 1 business opened mid December 2009. 25,000 for a personal opened January 2010 and 25,000 for a business opened April 2010. 100,000 since mid December. All 4 accounts are still open. I'll close 3 accounts tomorrow now that 6 months are past and ALL of my miles are secure but I'll keep the one business since I've already picked up another 40,000 miles on 5 miles per dollar spent on Dell Business for IT purchases for my employer that are expensed and reimbursed.
