Has anyone else tried that?

According to the T&C you can add up to 3 debit cards to a JOINT checking account for 2500 miles each.

Well, obviously, if U add additional users to your account, by definition it will become joint.

Not necessarily, you can add additional debit cards to your account without adding them as joint owners of the account. Just like credit cards.

Hm... didn't know that. In that case I wonder if adding that joint user to the account would disqualify him from taking advantage of the whole promotion on his own.

interesting, never thought of that, i would hope chase wouldn't either. the rules say a certain account. the rep even set my sons up with a custodial account.

I was told today that if I want to add users to my account, I would need to provide the same type of info I provided about myself, including their SS# and DL#. They will run the check the same way they ran one for me. The users will have the same rights on the account as would I. And in fact they will be joint users. There is no way add them as just additional users, like for a credit card. Also I was told that they will still be able to sign up for the promotion on their own.

Call a different rep at a different branch. I got multiple answers as well. When I got one that said what I was looking for I jumped. I had to fly to Houston to do it. But that is a different story. Needed the MR and a Russian Visa and they answered the right way. Remember rinse and repeat.

In my chase statement I noticed
some small print saying go to

www.continental.com/cardmembers

and learn about card benefits, get 200 miles.
I actually viewed all 3, but don't expect 300.
Anyway, I hadn't seen this mentioned.

This promotion is proceeding fairly well for me,
received 11,000 + 2,500 but still waiting on 10,000
as I have only last week been able to start
direct deposit (ACH) from ING Orange account.

ING required that I wait a month before linking.

Yay got my 21K miles for direct deposit and debit card use. It all posted within 3 weeks of opening up the account.

can open new account online

I just spoke with a rep on there website about opening an account and they said that you can open an account on there website and still get the bonus miles. There is now a place to enter the coupon code to get your miles.

This is great for people like me who do not live near a chase bank.

edit: I just opened my account online. It does not let you enter the promotion code but you can open up a chat with a rep and then they will call you to enter the code once you finish creating your account online.

Did you open a new Chase account online?

I am not having any luck. When I plug in a brand new coupon code, I receive the following message: "We're unable to proceed with your request."

Also, online they make you select the $65 Chase/Continental Airlines® Preferred Debit Card, for you cannot select the $25 Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card.

Am I missing something?

Yes, you have to start a chat with a rep then finish opening your account and then the rep will call you back to add the promo code to the account.

Has anyone been able to fund the checking account with a credit card? Thereby earning a double bonus? If so, can you confirm the card funding was treated as a purchase and not a cash advance? I have a citi mastercard I would like to use for this.

From the chase website they say:

What do I need to do to complete the online application process?

Before you submit your online application, we'll ask you to provide information about the credit card or existing Chase checking or savings account you want to use to fund your new account. We'll also ask you to print a signature card and return it to us by the mail or fax. Your signature card will include all the details you'll need to complete this final step.

Can anyone confirm this works with a non-chase credit card and it counts as a purchase, not cash advance?

veggie_lover May 1, 2009 7:14 pm

the online chat person did confirm that you can fund by credit card, however they said you have to redeem this coupon code at a branch. So I don't recommend doing this online since you won't know what kind of CSR you have to help you. And one mistake I made was I submitted the first part of the application which created a hard pull on my credit report. Then after I realized I could not complete the application I canceled it.
