They must be pinless purchases. It should say so somewhere around there that they have to be credit.
Reason being is that the business does not get charged a fee if you use debit but if you use your DEBIT card as Credit then they do get charged a fee. Hence why it is 5 PINLESS DEBIT card purchases as credit.

Actually you are both wrong.
To avoid the monthly fee you have to make 5 debit card purchases. PIN or NON-PIN is not relevant as far as the monthly fee is concerned. Just have to make 5 purchases one way or the other or a combination of the two. However to earn the miles for the purchase themselves it must be a NON-PIN transaction.
To earn the 15,000 bonus you must make at least one NON-PIN transaction.
From a Flyertalk perspective NON-PIN transactions are always better because even if you only spend a dollar or two, you have one more mile than you had before.

Businesses do get charged a fee for accepting debit card transactions. Although it is slightly lower than credit card transactions there is still a fee.

Make purchases at CVS and Walgreen
I do my 5 non pin purchases at CVS and Walgreen when I pick up some sales items, candy, gums, FAR items. Not difficut to fulfill the 5 purchases requirements. HTH.

Get 10,000 bonus miles when you open a Chase CheckingSM account and make 5 debit card purchases or set up direct deposit1
Get another 15,000 bonus miles2 after your first qualifying purchase3 if you open a Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card (annual fee applies)4
So 5 X $0.01 purchases get the 25K miles? Am I too aggressive?

Good job finding something that low to charge, and it should work, i havent seen anything with a minimum purchase amount, and i cant afford to eat unhealthy, even though its so cheap to.

Yuel, I noticed that you opened this thread. In the past, did Chase post a link before the expiration of the then prevailing one? I think this is an important data point for those who want to wait for the Milesathon.
Do you know if once I made the five purchases (do we need 6 or one is good for both components?), is there a way to tell that I fulfilled the obligation or I need to wait for the miles to post?

True, the checking account with the debit card and the CC are 2 different and unrelated products.

I just pulled out my account information and on my account summary it reads...
"Chase Checking
Avoid a monthly service fee:
Set up monthly electronic deposit of your paycheck, retirement, or social security income OR have 5 or more DEBIT card purchases post each statement period, OR Link to a qualifying checking account"
I have been doing 5 gas transactions using a pin. However, one month, I only had 4 pin transactions and I was charged 12.00. I would check the information on your account summary titled "welcome to a better banking experience"

I'm not sure I understand why you would even do any transactions with a pin-code, the way I understand it, in no instance would that ever generate miles. Okay, if you are withdrawing cash, or you really use the account for normal life, but if it is just to meet the quota, why wouldn't you try to get the miles as well?

I think 25? I do it for mine and my wife's card, and have a couple more months to go before hitting the 6 month mark.
My first 22,500 miles posted within about ten days of the first 5 purchases. Curious, what did you find that was less than six cents?
