My corporate travel desk will match me with one program. I'm CO Platinum and based in SEA. AS or DL were the recommended options. Opinions? Would a corporate match get me a true match with DL rather than maxing at Gold? Otherwise AS might be better given my SEA base.

Never mind - guess all you long time FT'ers knew this. Just got off the phone with US Airways. No match and to add insult - they wanted me to pay upwards of $645, plus fly 22,500 miles in 90 days to then be Plat - have they lost their minds??? No need to answer that! Guess I will just stay with Delta - albeit Amtrak is looking enticing!

What's the process to request status match from DL to US? Any recent experience that can be shared - ie how long it took, difficulty etc...

Yeah...I'd recommend you keep your current status. I think I'd rather fly Delta (bleh!) then US.

Nothing too exciting... but reassuring...

Just got my BD match from AF/KL. I don't necessarily want to fly BD, and they don't fly anywhere useful using their own metal (so the 4 upgrade vouchers are pretty pointless - not many long-haul flights), but the other perks across *A should be nice.

BTW, I was matched FB Plat to DC Gold which is *A Gold (like LH SEN, I guess). It took 3 working days, and I DIDN'T need to fly any BD or *A segments.

About how long will it likely take CO to get back to me regarding a decision on the status match? Just wondering...

Probably a few days, not more than a (normal, non-holiday) week.

My wife and I are both Delta Silver now, and have qualified for Silver again for 2011 (in fact we're both pretty close to Gold, but not quite).

What are the chances of status-matching to Continental? Do we need to fly on CO before we can ask, or can we just say "we're not happy with Delta and want to switch our flying to you"?

What are the ramifications of the upcoming CO/UA merger? Does it make this a good time to status match to CO, or does it matter?

What is your projection as to what will happen when CO accounts will merge with UA and your accounts now are at two different levels?

This is how I understand it:
For year 2011, MP and OnePass remain separate. No change during calendar year 2011.

For 2012 qualification, EQM from both accounts will be combined. But the combination only happens after the end of 2011.

So your two accounts at different levels remain.

Followup question ... it's conceivable with our Delta rollover MQMs that we will make Delta Gold next year (meaning at some point in 2011 we will qualify for gold status through 2012). If we think we can pull that off, would the best strategy be to wait and request status-match to CO at that point (is there a cutoff date in 2011 for getting matched status through the end of 2012?), and by status matching to CO will we automatically get that same status in UA?

Hi everyone,

Looking for some status match advice here. I am Premier Executive on United and Silver on Delta. I intend to switch over to using Delta as my preferred airline and faxed a request to Delta to up me to SkyMiles Gold. They denied my request, stating that the status match program is only for people who are not elite members. Is that the end of the story, or does anyone have suggestions on what I can do further? (eg., can I cancel my SkyMiles membership and then re-apply for the status match?)

Thanks!
