Reading up on loyalty programs

I'm interested in reading up some more on the economics of loyalty programs, but I've had a heckuva time finding decent reading material. All I can seem to find online relates to grocery shopping programs. I'm interested in technical documents with statistics on program costs/revenues and pretty much the whole deal. Any ideas or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your help!

A few MBA thesis have been written I suggest reading the Loyality Article in harvard Business Review. Also data from FT was solicited from these boards. Hope this helps.

Webflyer's Frequent Flyer Facts and Stats

I seem to recall the HBR article you're likely referencing but can't find it... IIRC it was once posted here by Eugene.

Thank you for the information, Gleff. I will also look for that loyalty programs article. Sounds like a very interesting read.

Also try NorthWestern University in Evanston, I believe the transportation department at NW and DePaul have also studied these programs and what they mean to the airline industry and jobs in chicago. I forgot the chairpersons name.

Excellent memory, Gary! That was actually not an HBR article, but a very interesting Harvard case study called "Hilton HHonors Worldwide: Loyalty Wars", and discussed not just HH, but also SPG, and other key players in hotel loyalty programs game. It was available online, but it looks like it's gone now. Wish I have saved that pdf file...

It's actually available online at Harvard Business Online. Just google the title of the article. You may have to pay a nominal fee to D/L the article.

Gary, Eugene, and enjoystravel, YGM.

bpauker, expose your e-mail and I'll send it to you, too.

Also, here is the thread in the Hilton forum that discussed this article:
