MM, instead of going to Europe, how about using the 50K Jaguar miles for domestic awards on AA? I gifted BA miles for relatives to go to Hawaii on AA.

hey that works!

true... I suppose we could use these in conjunction with another award flight using AA miles for another person.

My wife and I will consider it. And thanks for reminding us that sun is good!

Too funny, MM. When the Jag deal was posted I checked into BA's routing to Germany and for my particular destination, I ran into the very same issue. On AA is how I would use them.

Since 40k won't get you to europe I always expected to do a partner award to argentena. That seemed like the most coach class bang for the buck.

yeah, I think I will use em on AA but I think someone in my family (household acct) tried it once and the loss of miles to do domestic us flights on the partner is disgusting. Something like having to use 50k to do things that would take 30-35 on one of our carriers. I dunno though so I will try. Certainly not gonna work for trips to holland, where we need to go when we fly to europe.

Here is a perfect example of how some of these "deals" are not such a great deal after all, since they contribute to mileage inflation.

Sorry, I disagree. The poster mentioned they were 50K Jag miles, so had to do not much to earn them and gets as a reward a flight flight to Hawaii on AA. Sounds like a deal to me. How is this Jag promo any different from smaller but wider mile promo's on cereal boxes or tins of pudding?

Caribbean!

We have used our BA miles in the past for AA flights to the Caribbean--during peak season, too. Great way to use em, particularly if you aggregate the miles in a household account, and you don't have to build up enough miles for a trip to Europe. ^

We have done that in the past, and the BA Jag miles are almost there. Just need to add a few more hotel stays and other stray miles in there for a Caribbean ticket.

On at least 5 occasions I've used my BA miles for partner awards on AA to HI and I've had great luck finding available seats on my desired travel dates, HOWEVER keep in mind that all BA awards on their travel partners are absolutely positively non-changable once ticketed, not even for a fee so your travel plans had better be set in concrete.

...I suppose it would be pushing it if I were to redeem them for a ticket to Houston on the weekend of Oct 29-31. Could see my brother who lives there and also possibly grab seats to the World Series should Boston at all be in it with the Astros...

Of course, being a Red Sox fan, I know that I should not paint anything on the grass until I am sure... I would be having to hold out until there are some rather large fees attached with any form of redemption. Losing a prebooked ticket would only be a loss of a few Jag certs, but still...

Go SOX!
they can do it, ya know.
