Stopped at my local Jag dealer with 2 certs. One for me and my better half. Salesman was very personable, and of course the $5 I presented him as a goodwill gesture for his time certainly expedited the process. In and out within 5 minutes.
Thanks for the original post. hockeystl |
I went to my local Jag dealer for a half-hour visit, and there was a queque of college-aged kids in dirty jeans and rucksacks waiting to have these certificates filled out by the salesperson. As I was leaving, he said he was going to refuse to sign the certificate.

Go to the dealership. Present the certificate. Tell them you are or are not in the market for a car and what your future car plans hold and let the salesman decide whether it is in his interest to take you for a ride or not. I took a 10 minute ride and enjoyed it.
The salesman explained that Jaguar is trying to market to the middle class and this is a step in the direction of letting the middle class know that a Jag is not out of reach. Don't try to screw Jag, go to the dealership in the spirit of the offer. Let them take the lead with an honest understanding of why you are there and then go home with $200 to $35,000 worth of miles (buy 4 jags get 4 $8,000 first class trans altlantic tickets plus 4,000 miles) and tell your sphere of influence about the experience. Car dealers have a rule of 600 that says that customers have a sphere of influence around them that reaches 600 people. When you tell all of your freinds co-workers and relatives about an experience (especially a negative one) it spreads to 600 people by the time everyone repeats it a time or two. If we all go to the dealership in the spirit of the offer and tell our friends then jag will get their money's worth and obviously we will get our times worth with this lucrative offer. Before this offer I thought that Jag dealership was off limits to me. If you guys at Jaguar are reading THANKS.You gave a lot and I'm trying to make sure you got your moneys worth. And Puddin guy your step by step was great. You should offer your consulting services to airlines as a way to fine tune thier promotions. You would be great at telling them how people would twist their promotions a little to give them unintended consiquences, and they could fine tune the rules to get what they want from promotions. I'm not saying you do anything wrong in fact I'm sure Healthy Choice got tons of free publicity out of you. That might be part of a great strategy. Have promtions released to FT that are such short time that hundreds of FT obsessed members chase them for a short time, and release media stories of the crazy things we do to meet these promos. Then have the promotions open a little less lucrative for a long time for the public. |
My wife and I went and test drove the X-type yesterday.. the 2.5 liter isn't worth it, my wife's Camry has better pickup. Then I drove the XK8 which is just a bit more spiffy http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif (XKR convertible is my dream car)

I simply can not believe how easy this was!

I thought that I would bump this thread up to the top as there are only three (3) days left in the 10,000 Mile Jaguar Test Drive Promo available to British Airways North America Executive Club Members.
If you have not as of yet taken advantage of this promotion - "get thyself down to a Jaguar Dealership as soon as possible". The Test Drive Promotion ends on Tuesday, February 25, 2003. This is one of the easiest 10,000 Miles that one will ever accrue in the British Airways Executive Club Frequent Flyer Program. "zoosh" [This message has been edited by zoosh (edited 02-22-2003).] |
I opened up a BA account last week, had to fly to NRT, came back, went to the Jaquar rep for the Boston area (Lee Jaguar, Wellsley), spoke with a real nice gentleman, looked at the car, was told all the specifics and got my 10,000 miles signed in! Mailed it Saturday! Total time: 15 minutes for the encounter.
Thank you BA, can I have another! That's one trip from LHR to Vienna or Zurich (I think?)! :-) |
Does the dealership needs to put some kind of stamp on the cert, or just need to sign and put the dealership number in?
Mine are signed but there is no date or stamp. Will they count? |

I figured that this would provide Jaguar Program Headquarters a greater level of assurance that I actually went to the dealership to take the test drive. "zoosh" |
I am pretty sure they made copies of the certificates. That way they could theoretically check to see if you actually went into the dealership...
|
No, they did not make any copies. The guy signed it (not very polite even though I VEYR politely asked him) and gave it back to me. I was so embarassed I have not noticed they did not stamped it or anything.

I've been to three different dealerships in Maryland/Virginia in order to get three forms completed for myself, wife and son. Although the level of professionalism and courtesy varied between the three dealerships, the results were the same. Salesperson or Sales Manager signed the form and filled in the dealership ID number. The rest was left up to us to complete. I also stapled a business card to each form to confirm authenticity. I simply dropped them in the mail in separate envelopes.
So, the promotion is about to expire. If this promotion is like all the others posted throuout the years on Flyertalk,, we will have a few weeks of "I sure hope I did everything right" anxiety followed by two weeks of "d a m n them, why haven't my miles posted!" anger followed by forty or fifty posting of "My miles posted" elation. ------------------ Addicted to airline miles? I'm not sure if I was lucky or not, but I went to Manhattan Jaguar in suburban DC during the height of the DC area monsoon on Saturday. I offered to take the test drive, but confessed I had no intention of buying a Jag. The salesmen graciously completed the form for me -- and for my wife who was not even present!

Thanks a lot for spreading the word! I've told a number of US friends about this and they wouldn't have known without FT.
|
At all three dealerships that I visited, I asked if this was a popular promotion.
Amazingly, two of the dealerships said I was the only one who had brought in this offer and the third dealership said only one other person had brought a BA/Jaguar coupon in. ------------------ Addicted to airline miles?
