Actually, it could be as many as 80,000 miles if you're flying longhaul deep deep discount tickets on BA...

Hi, elambeth. Welcome to Flyertalk.

G, Q, S, and V earn miles at a 25% rate and 0.5 q-points/mile earned. So 1 q-point for every 8 miles flown or 10k for 80k flown.

I also completed the PLT challenge a few weeks ago on my DAL/AUS trips. 10 round trips = 10,000 Q points.

The title of this thread is very misleading and simply not true. Assuming that the OP really called AA in the first place and was a "busy" traveller as he states, I do not understand why he posted this thread in the first place before calling back and getting another agent. Anyone who flies often knows that information you get from CSRs is not always accurate. If you do not get the informtation you were expecting, most of us have the common sense to call back and see if the next agent gives us the same information. I would hope that people would do that before posting a thread with a title that simple is not true.

Q Points on Qantas

Hi:
I am hoping to sign up for the challenge soon - and need one little detail before I call.

I am flying to Australia in July on Qantas - on N and Q fares. I need to know how many Qpoints can be accrued on these fares. The AA website does not mention N or Q fares on the section on Qantas (http://www.aa.com/apps/AAdvantage/Vi...artnersContent)

According to FewMiles, (http://members.shaw.ca/fewmiles/AA/new/fares.html) the N fares give you 50% Q points - would anyone know about the Q fares on Qantas?

Thanks!
FoT

I would assume that N and Q fares on QF earn no AAdvantage points or miles.

Correct - if they are not listed, then they earn no Q-miles or Q-points. As for the FewMiles site, it is outdated in many spots, and in the case of discrepancies with information located on aa.com, should be ignored.

slightly OT - there has been some recent discussion about requalifying with challenge. I'm currently Plat, having done challenge last year. When my Plat expires Feb 2007 and I roll down to Gold, can i once again sigh up for the Challenge? I know in the past this was done, but i seem to remember some threads recently that you couldn't do that anymore and in effect challenge become every-other-year thing. what's the latest?

There's a "sticky" at the top of the AA forum for all questions related to challenges.

But remember: It's an UNPUBLISHED feature. It can thus change and people won't know about it until a LOT of guinea pigs report in. There is nothing that says it's every other year, it could be once only from now, and no one will know that until two years from now when all the people who were counting on it being every other year try and fail!

If you don't meet Plat at the end of the year, AA is likely to offer you (also "one time") a chance to "buy back" you status. I suggest you take it if you really value Plat, because that way you'll be put off having to worry about whether the Challenge will work until yet another year out (assuming you again don't requalify).

Meanwhile, work on those 2MM (from all sources at this point, tho that too could change at some point), that's the only "sure" way to "lock in" Plat without requalifying every year.

I did a challenge on 1999 or 2000. Am I disqualified for another?

Call and find out, then post your results here so we can all learn the answer.
