This is not true. Charge card as well as credit card use in combination is considered for Centurion qualification, regardless of what Platinum customer service tells you.
The problem in your situation is that you had a split between small business and personal cards (at least I'm inferring this is the case based on the letter you got). You need $250K spend and payments on any combination of personal charge and/or credit cards to qualify for a personal Centurion, or $250K spend and payments on any combination of business charge and/or credit cards to qualify for a business Centurion. |

You will not have any problems.
Think of it as getting not only miles but also elite status for the same price. I've made over $25k in charges and payments across two billing periods and still no miles boost yet. The second period should put me officially over the $25k threshold. |

Hope you're right.

Did anyone pay taxes with a Chase MP business account? I was going to, but couldn't get a straight answer before leaving on an out of the country trip, so only did it with personal account card. Don't know why the offer should be there for one, but not the other, but then I'm not clear what Chase has been doing with this offer. Do personal account holders get some offers that business account ones don't, or the other way around? |

With Chase, one sees the "regular" RDM the same as always, that is with posting of other purchases, but the bonus miles come weeks (8 to 12?) later.

Do personal account holders get some offers that business account ones don't, or the other way around? While they were only offering 15k bonus for tax payments last year, they also offered Mrs ffI, unlimited double miles for a promotion for 6 weeks. Even when I called and asked for the same on the other card, they refused! It took 1 day to transfer some credit line from the other cards. Guess which card had all the taxes and misc expenses that we could dream up? Each 120k miles cost us only 1500$ for trips in J on LH last Dec to Asia. |
Chase reply
In response to my question re: the link to the double miles no longer working, this is what I heard back today:
Dear vindesante: Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your credit card account. Please be advised that the double miles on tax payments for 2009 is being re-evaluated and is not an active promotion at this time. The tax promotion you are referring was posted in error. We will honor your request for the bonus miles for the tax payment. Please contact us after the tax payment post and we will add the miles to your account. Since the tax promotion is not an active promotion the miles will not post automatically. If you have any further questions, please reply using the Secure Message Center. Thank you, XXXX XXXXX, E-mail Customer Service Representative My suggestion would be to contact Chase before you pay your taxes and you will then hopefully get the same reply and have it on record in your account. |
Any 2010 promos?

Nothing for 2010, but it was a good place to make my charges on two Chase BA cards for the 100,000 miles bonus.

I have a generic "Spend $750/mo for 3 months and get a free Marriott night" offer. I guess I'll throw one of my state tax payments on there to cover April.
(It's the MR Visa - an otherwise awful general spend card. But I can always use a Cat 4 Marriott night somewhere...) |
See also this thread, if you can use a Mastercard credit card to pay:

Reduced fee at pay1040.com
I got a postcard from American Express that says
"You may qualify for a reduced convenience fee". Take advantage of a lower 2.1% convenience fee when you use any American Express Card to make a federal tax payment of $100,000 or more. To take advantage of this lower fee, follow these three steps: 1. Call the Pay1040.com customer service number at 1-866-734-8212. 2. Communicate with the customer service representative that you need to make a HIGH BALANCE TAX program pricing of 2.10% convenience fee when you use any American Express Card. 3. Work with the customer service representative to obtain authorization for your federal tax payment with any American Express Card. I know it is not much of saving and I certainly will not try this, but some one else might find this useful. |

Just got this email today & was wondering whether it was worth shifting my spends but totally forgot about taxes. Think I'll use it to pay my extension in April, 2009 1040 in May and estimated in June. :D |
