surprised to see i was targeted again via email and received the same offer good through march 2020.

Question for those who have done before…
1) did you have to meet any minimum balance amounts. If you didn't, were you charged a monthly fee?
2) since it seems the application does not ask for your AA number, does does the targeted native of the offer mean they will automatically assign your known AA number to the checking account. To the people who have successfully been awarded miles, did you essentially do nothin and the miles magically posted? Is there anywhere on your citi checking account online portal that shows linked AA account (like citicard online portal does)?

1) I was not charged a monthly fee for the first three months the account was open. I was charged a fee in January. I am considering keeping the bank account so I will likely pay the fee or deposit enough to keep the account free soon.

2) I did nothing and the miles eventually posted. I made sure to click the link in the email when I applied

Anyone know what they did for the 2018 tax year?
$250 in taxes, ouch!

I haven't received any 1099 from Citi for last year's miles; I intend to file taxes soon, so I may miss it in the initial filing.

Citi is sending a checking account offer for each citi card you have - for those with MileUp and Citi Platinum, that means two potential checking account bonuses. After much deliberation I will take the offer sent to me for the second bonus over the next few weeks. I will probably be tapped out in terms of AA bonuses at that point.

I was targeted for the 50k offer last summer, it expired on 9/31. I had gotten these offers before but the full 50k was for either Citigold or Priority with big $10-50k balance requirements. I binned them because I don't have that much cash sitting around and I wasn't going to waste my time dealing with Citi's awful checking products for the 10k miles I'd get for a basic checking bonus. But the most recent one I got had language that made the 50k Priority offer much more attainable. I just needed to set up direct deposits and make consecutive monthly qualifying bill pays (I sent checks to my stepdad). I opened my account end of September 2019, met the offer criteria beginning of November, and received my miles 01/14 - despite the CSR I talked to saying it wouldn't be until March. I did not receiver a 1099, though the miles posted to my account this year. Still, 50k miles with no hard pull 5/24 is nice, even if I have to pay taxes on them. I canceled my Citi checking once they started charging a monthly fee, after my miles posted.

The best part about these offers is that you can get one per card product, and the Citi and AA language expressively permit getting two bank account bonuses a year. So with three separate card products, you can get over 250,000 AA miles over a year and a half.
