Appears this is back. ON page 4 of the von's flyer, $10 OFF When you buy $100 in MasterCard gift cards. Offer valid 11/4 - 12/1/12.

I'll pass this MasterCard promotion since it can't be loaded as a debit card on Serve. I am looking forward to another Visa prepaid card promotion.

liaozhongchao is right. The MC is crummy. Not only can't be linked as debit to Serve, can't even be linked at all.
I may buy a couple, but, won't go full bore on this one.

The coupon printer didn't print the $10 coupon at all when I put $100 into one of those $20-$500 "name your own value" cards. Only those $100 fixed value cards(like the one showed on the flyers) would trigger the coupon. At least, that was what happened in my local Vons.

Read the T&C closely, if it says "at least $100" you can always convince them to give you a $10 GC to Vons which is better.

And I did convince the manager to give me $10 in cash last time when I bought a $100 "name your own value" MC gift card. But I doubt it would be convincing if I bought a $500 one.

That machine that prints the coupons can screw up, or, they forget to put paper in it. It's happened to me many times.
Print out the flyer online, or pick it up in the store then take it along with the card you bought, and the receipt back to that store and demand the coupon. They'll likely just give you $10 cash which is obviously better. That's what they do for me, granted, I've addressed the issue immediately when it happens.

But you just happened to have a print-out of the flyer in your hand when you asked for the coupon? How do I get a better print-out of the flyer? The picture of the one posted is too small and low-res. Same with this one on slickdeals:
