UA will give you a challenge but otherwise you are hosed

Would it work for Avianca Amigo elites (Diamond)? I can throw in Etihad Guest Gold in as well.

I'm trying to match with them and trying to use the argument, "But I have Avianca status and you said you'll match it"

Currently hold Air Nz *G and Airberlin Gold. My ANZ will expire in June, and I am keen to figure out how to status match into another *G program. Advice on how to best do this? I've read that TK won't match *G anymore and won't match Oneworld Sapphire... Any comments/expertise?

Also eager to match into another Oneworld Sapphire situation... Although that may be difficult. QF offered me a challenge but I didn't complete given the existing OW Sapphire.

Its very unusual to be matched to same level. Often 1 level/tier down.
Airlines on 1 alliance tend not to match against their comrades in the same alliance, AB being as notable exception.

Why did you not do the QF challenge if offered to you?
Reads as if you do not fly enough to maintain status. Are you an infrequent flyer?

Some of us not-so-frequent flyers try to make it one as much as possible, though. ;) The 560 TP I'll receive if BRU-HND on QR goes through were definitely part of the equation.

Just finishing law school and had to take some time away from flying to focus on that. Take your point that it isn't a free ride. Didn't take the QF challenge because it would only have given me 2 months more OW sapphire than my AB status match gave me.

Still keen to find a way to extend the *G by either matching current ANZ or AB. :)

I thought diamond Amigo soft landed to gold? Thus giving you another year of star gold?

ummmm , since it took a year to get the first card I wonder how I can find out ?

I guess for sure we will know when it expires... not ideal but this was the understanding of their terms I got.

My whole family matched to Diamond, 4/5 of us got our cards fairly fast but the last one only got hers last month... funny how that goes...

Better than us! Out of 3, only I got my card.

No, the only exception is Marriott PLT to UA. That is the only known hotel to airline match that I can think of.

I matched to Diamond last year, and just logged into my account and noticed I am now Bronze...my card still shows Diamond through 31 March 2017, so not sure what's up.

Not sure either, given the levels they have are Blue, Silver, Gold and Diamond.

My status program/level under my username is current.
Are there any programs I should be looking to status match to?

(I actually also have to get around to getting Hertz Gold via my credit card)

ummm so you got dropped from Diamond to bronze ? I would think that would be below silver , so its a complete drop and maybe just a name change from Blue

But as soon as you earn N/A points you'll be upgraded to Platinum [also level that currently doesn't exist] :D

Bigger problem is that my plastic card is Diamond through 31 March. Hopefully the benefits still flow through to partners and it's just something with the site. :td:

2 years ago I was able to use my BA gold card to get the equivalent with both Virgin Atlantic and Alitalia, I didn't really get to use the benefits from them much but now my Virgin Gold has been downgraded Typically I am flying with both Virgin and Delta soon,

Anyway to the question are there any airlines offering Status match at the moment please.

I applied for a status match with Turkish Airlines just yesterday. Seems like they give you a few months up front, and extend it to the full 12 months when you take a flight with them during that period.

As this is a move away from BA to another airline, we'll move this to MilesBuzz where the OP should get some updated advice which may not be readily available in this forum.

I was Diamond 2 days ago, Basic today. On the card screenshot it used to say it was valid till 31/3/2017 though. I was hoping for a soft landing to Gold too... I have never gotten the physical card as it seemed impossible for Avianca website to enter my home address - no house number, house name instead, numbers in the post code... poor IT I guess. I can see they have a new website now, but I don't think I'll be using it much ;)

I was upgraded with Turkish Air to *Gold 2 years ago. Currently, they have downgraded my status to *Silver last year. Nowadays I'm also Gold with Air France.
In order to become matched AGAIN to *Gold with Turkish Air, would it be better to request to match on my old Miles&Smiles account, or to create a new Miles&Smiles account with different email/address and after that request the status match?

It looks like "Diamond" got trimmed down to "Diam" and both AwardWallet and Avianca Amigo website get confused.

TK offers status match only once a lifetime.
It is very unlikely, that they will match you again. TK requires passport scan, so they can easily find duplicated accounts.

They only recently required passport scans so old matchers MIGHT get away with a second match...

Or just create a new account. Let's say your name is John Smith, just add your middle name in the new account, like John W. Smith.

Has anyone succesfully matched the Alitalia Freccia Alata (Skyteam Gold) recently?

I am based in Sydney and currently looking to find an airline to status match my Sapphire from oneword and put my mileage. Which airline is open to that? I typically fly to Asia/America, and AA, UA, Delta, and Qantas all fly those routes fairly often. I have rung AA, Qantas, Virgin OZ so far, and all said they did not do status matching now. Where to go?

UA will let you do a status challenge. Probably to silver but possibly gold. AA (or anyone else in OW) won't touch you because you are already with a partner.
