Not bad matching from a airline that only flys NA routes to a airline that has no domestic routes in NA 😄

May I ask how much travelling required will those airline match status for a customer. I currently hold a KrisFlyer Gold and am thinking to switch back to CX MP... But I only travel a dozen of times each year. And do I have to show a whole year of travelling statement to them when sending in the email? Many thanks!

Got my Air Berlin status match today. They're matching me to gold from Avianca Amigo gold.
They didn't take my screenshot of my print at home card, they said they need a physical card. So I sent a photo of the physical card (see Avianca Amigo thread regarding my "physical card") and they matched about a week later. |

AA Platinum matched to CX Silver. Had to provide copy of card with 12 months of AA statements, as well as info on any CX flights within the past year or upcoming CX flights.

Don't panic though, I've heard of plenty of people getting matched from screenshot of print at home card. |
Thought this may be of interest to some travelers- especially those trying to jump ship from AA (or DL).
Just to give some updates, AS is being overly generous about matches. I know many of you out there want to, or should switch because of AA going to revenue now too. My Mother got matched last August from being DL gold, but at the time of the request she was no longer DL Gold since she had not re-qualified with DL's new system. She wrote an e-mail to [email protected] explaining her situation, and they matched her to Gold in their program based on her past history of frequent travel on DL. Even though she did not re-qualify last year for Gold with AS, because of the late match, they gave her Gold again this year for another chance to qualify. Thought this may be helpful to know for those who did not re-qualify with their airline, or those looking to switch, and have a history of extensive travel that can be proven to get status now at AS. |

Did you earn your AMIGO status thru flying or did you use your OW/Sapphire to get O6/GOLD. Alaska will verify with your airline that your status is earned thru flying. Vey unlikely to get matched in that case.
But AS only match certain airlines and O6 is not on the list. |

Actually AS has been fairly picky about not matching "unearned" status. Whether they decipher it from your submitted mileage statement, your Recent AS history, or have other mechanisms I don't know. But there have been a number of reported rejections for matching status that was not earned through flying (including one of my family members :p ).
But my point was merrly that I doubt other airlines would tell AS anything. Most likely they know whos matching who and ask for statements if they suspect matches :) smart. I really do like the way AS works I just Wish they offered a challenge to those previously matched later :) wishful thinking I know :) |

Yes they are very picky :) also they are strict on the once in a lifetime rule as I tried to rematch after I had foolishly burned my match years ago when I did not fly alot. Now that I average 150-200k a year paid travel they no longer would match so I had to stick with AA :D so again people make sure you match when the potential benefits are the best for you as you may NOT get a second chance :D

They matched my Northwest status to Gold back in 2005 and I never re-qualified with AS. In 2013 I got so fed up with DL, I asked AS if they would make an exception because I had moved back to Seattle, and had become so fed up with DL. They agreed to match my DL gold to MVP again. I guess it depends on your story and who you get to speak to?

Bottom line: MileagePlan will be overly generous and accommodating if you speak to them and explain your circumstances. They have the best customer service out of any US airline, hands down.

Yes. Many of us used the O6 and TK match last year. TK does a challenge now and O6 match ended.
Star Alliance (Gold), Skyteam (Elite Plus), Oneworld (Emerald), Emirates (Gold - Platinum), Etihad (Gold - Platinum) and El Al (Platinum - Top Platinum). |

TK seems to be cutting it's full 2yr status match to a 4 month trial in most cases, numerous reports of just 4 month trials instead of the automatic 2yr match occurring in the last couple of months.

Make sense - RJ has been doing match if you fly a leg with them.

Heard that you can extend the status match to 1 year if you complete 1 long-haul trip with TK, and then extend it further to 2 years if earn 15K points, not 100% sure about it though.
Still fairly easy for 2 years of Star gold |
I have BA Silver currently - I can status match to American/Delta/United through work or is there anything alternative I can do?
My BAEC Silver runs out in May (collection year) and June for actual use - any tips? |
I currently have O6 Gold through a match and I'm thinking of crediting the required 45K miles to the account to requalify. Does anybody know whether this will get me an extra 12 or 24 months?

Status Match/Challenge timing
Hello all,
I hope this is in the correct thread but I have a question about strategic timing of status matches/challenges. I am United 1K and have reached out to American about doing a status match (I missed the formal program they advertised earlier). They responded and offered to direct match me to Executive Platinum during my challenge period (35k EQM in 3 months). If I meet the requirements, EXP gets extended until Feb 28, 2017. At what point would a successfully-met challenge earn me status through Feb 2018? I've read somewhere that the cutoff is July 1, but is that when I have to wait until to start the challenge or does my challenge period need to end after it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
