Don't use google chrome page translation thingy, just fill it out in portuguese copy-pasting names of fields you're not sure into translate.google.com.

kauppias Nov 27, 2015 9:43 pm

I just picked the english language version and. Signed up the whole family with no issues... The only issues came when using the portugese version...

Phorbas Nov 28, 2015 1:35 am

Still waiting for my BA Silver card to arrive in the post, so I've sent a screenshot of my BAEC account to the Avianca status match.

Keeping fingers crossed...

jms_uk Nov 28, 2015 1:54 am

Friend told me that Copa is now asking for a proof of one flight with them before agreeing to match.

Did you all fill in the CPF # field? It seems mandatory on the website. It is their tax ID.

klausa Nov 28, 2015 1:09 pm

I didn't pretend to a brazilian national so the field wasn't mandatory for me.

Hmmm, Thx. I will see what I need to toggle to make that change.

I was upgraded to Avianca Brazil - StarAlliance Gold. I can print the PDF of the card however I'd like to receive the physical card for the lounges.
Anyone of you received the physical Avianca Gold card after the status match?

bodory Dec 3, 2015 9:13 am

They said you need to fly with them to get the physical card.

Or propably credit flights to them! This is a smart move for them as it really makes it hard to "freeload" on their status :) crediting to them will yield status benefits as status will show on the BP :)

Well, not really...

It's trivially easy to get BP with one FF# that has a status and then swap that out to the one you actually want to credit in after you're in lounge.

In some programs yes, others are "sticker" then others :)

But realistically why should they send a hard copy if one doesnt credit to them :)

I know that is not the plan for most but it is something to keep in mind if one gets these matches :)

statusmatcher.com has some reports on people getting matched to Air New Zealand. Has anyone here succeeded with that?

In my experience you need to have a number of forward bookings with them, and can show you're of potentially high value to them (e.g. a Qantas Platinum wanting to switch to Air NZ, or a high status holder with an airline from another part of the world who is moving to New Zealand).

It's a pretty involved process, taking several emails and phone calls. If successful you might be granted Gold status (rather than Elite) but won't get the upgrade vouchers until you qualify properly.

In short: their status match is very much the exception rather than the rule.

To expedite your match request with NZ, here is what you should include in your initial correspondence:
  • Your current elite status membership card, must be in photo form - screenshots of online card is not accepted (Current status cannot be *A, VA or any other partner)
  • 12 month account statement, also indicating your current status
  • E-ticket/PNR of upcoming NZ bookings
  • List of routes you are likely to frequent - I would also include the class of service you would most likely fly in.

cblaisd Dec 17, 2015 7:25 am

NOT including AirBerlin, is there any OneWorld carrier that would (quickly) match to United Gold?

Airberlin will now only match German/Swiss/Austrian residents. I know that Finnair will grant matches exceptionally of you are only 1000 miles short or if you have flown multiple paid long-hauls. LAN will match if you copy your account statement with movements in Latin America. AA, BA and IB do not match to start with. Go to statusmathcer.com to see reports of statusmatches.

cblaisd Dec 18, 2015 8:54 pm

Sounds pretty grim, then. Thanks for the report. I spent some time on statusmatcher and it looks like the only ones doing matches require past or future travel on the carrier.

I'm a PR Mabuhay Miles Elite, flying between HKG-MNL/CEB atleast 40 sectors a year, I'm wondering would there be any chance that CX would match the status for me. If they do, I'll be switching over from 2016.

CX will reluctantly match to their Silver tier, OneWorld RUBY. They have a joining fee of $50 USD for their frequent flyer program. Some reports say that they only waive the joining fee. You will have a better chance of getting matched if you have an existing booking with them.

Hi

are there any matchs I should sign up for Today to get a 2015 year on the request ?

What are you looking for? Just to match for the sake of matching? Or are you travelling on XX airline and need status there? Most status matches are one time deals so matching is best done at times when its most beneficial. If only A3 gold how much flying are you doing?

my last 2 trips to Asia were $600 RT and no FF miles , on China Air , so Sky Team Status would have been nice for the extra bag and lounge ,

But I would also like to go to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific so one world would be nice ,

I have Star Gold for 2016 on Aviana so set there ,

Any ideas ?

kauppias Dec 31, 2015 1:02 pm

So you just want a onetime status match for one trip?

Oneoworld I think your out of luck.

Sorry I thought you had A3 for 2016 but I guess you meant O6 avianca brazil?

Alitalia match has been extended till jan 2016...

CZ also has a match but requires a flight with them so Im guessing bo luck there...

Not sure how many programs will match from O6 :) maybe LAN IF you can fly with them?

No idea how many trips I will take in 2016 ,

at least 3 or maybe 4 to Asia from California

and one or 2 trips to Europe

plus a few inside the USA.....

I have 3 months of millemiglia gold until March 31 , 2016
15 months of star gold till March 2017

and I will try and get Air Berlin with my Swiss Address.

Sky Team is what China Air uses and right now they are the cheapest flights if I do not want to go to Mainland China,

Before I flew 90% United , but they lost me with so many baggage fees etc

Sounds like a plan. AB seems to be asking ppl with non local sounding names to send in proof of recidency but if thats not an issue then that is a good idea. Though burning theough alot of matches if little chance yo keep status may not be the best way to go but we each make our own criteria...

Then again one can allways rematch later if one had multiple addresses and no big mileage commitments :)

If lounges are the main draw there are also some alternatives to get those.

But oneworld is really tough now. If you have a GGL friend that may be a option :)

LAXlocal Dec 31, 2015 7:59 pm

one problem is that if you totally lose "Gold" its very hard to get it back these days ,

many cheap fares give no qualifying miles or only 25%-50%

So flying 40,000 miles on Asia trips still does not get you gold,

And I am already over 60 so burning one time Status Matches does not bother me ,

If I was flying ever week I would do it another way !

Are there any options to match to OW Emerald? I have several statuses (*Gold, ow Saphire and Skyteam Elite Plus) but is there any way to receive Emerald?

Both S7 and Jordan will do but you must fly once with them before your application wilk be considered.

But I am somewhat skeptical that star gold will yield OWE :)

Is this real?

I just read on statusmatcher.com that s7 does not offer any match. So how does this work? Has anyone done this? Flying s7 once is fine.

mstoldt Jan 1, 2016 8:49 am

Access to ow first class lounge

The main target for me is experiencing the pier lounge and buying a first class ticket is not an option for my wallet. I figured out matching anything to ow emerald is the best idea. Am I right with this one?

I guess it would depend on what you are matching from? Star gold that requires 100k miles a year maybe. Star gold that requires 20-50k would most likely match to OWS not OWE!

A skyteam elite plus can be had at 50k so not going to match to OWE I would think!

RJ offers a match but requires you fly a trip with them first before they will match.

No experience with S7

Air Berlin now matching US residnts

They've extended their matches to US addresses now, and no longer requiring Swiss german or austrian.

https://topbonus.airberlin.com/web/t...on-statusmatch

Found it on Headforpoints.com

AB is a 12month match. They also can recind this offer anytime so keep that in mind, they changed it abruptly recently to only Swiss german etc residents so you never know :)
