air berlin is cancelling status matches, apparently. they cancelled my match that was granted earlier this year.

That's disturbing, mines is still valid, when did you apply and was it contingent on the german or Austrian residency?

mine just expired the end of October and on the website I've been downgraded to silver (OW Ruby) so at least its something; albeit not as good as gold (OW Sapphire)

I got mine before the requirement changed to being based in Germany

Also sent AB Gold and AZ Freccia Alata Status and got matched to... Silver.
I replied and complained :D as Silver is totally worthless.

Got Amigo Diamond today matched from AB Gold and Aegean Gold. Took about a month. I´ll update when I get the actual card.

did they email you to advise or did you just check your online profile and see the change?

I also got amigo diamond from sending in AS 75k and AB gold.

They sent an email then it reflected the change online.

Think turkish will match it come next fall?

Matching with turkish will require some activity on the account!

Air New Zealand do match but only after you do some strong booking with them and explain it as your new pattern. They are lovely and patient people. We conferred for almost two months and....got it!^

Matching to Oneworld
 

I have top status in Star Allaince and Skyteam but I have been moved to a city that is main oneworld city how could I match with OW program

There were reports that AA stopped their status challenger for this year.

I wouldn't really call the AA challenge a match anyway as anyone could do it and you don't actually get status until you complete the challenge.

I thought you had to provide evidence of prior status with different airline to be eligible for AA challenges?

Prior status with another airline was unneeded to participate in an AA challenge.

Indeed, however was merely pointing out that it was never a true 'match' and was simply a challenge that any Joe public could sign up for and achieve regardless of holding status or not :)

I tried to match with OW airlines but to no avail. However, just a heads up: SriLankan Airlines (OW) is offering status matches based on the following conditions. I'm not sure how it's like as I didn't qualify for it though.

Turkish Airlines Status Match
 

After much back and forth and continuous emails sent with only the auto-reply with an otherwise useless reference number I couldn't use on the website to follow up, I finally had a 'light bulb' moment and decided to use the powers of social media! I reached out via Twitter and Facebook, citing the reference number and literally within an hour I checked the website to see my card was now Gold and i received the email welcoming me to Elite, etc!

You did get temporary Gold status if you had status on another airline (I matched from Delta Silver, then up-challenged to Plat)

Also, received a confirmation email from Avianca BR on Oct 23, still waiting for a match.

Anyone succesful in matching Avianca Amigo to Alitalia without the physical card?

I would be surprised if that was the case. Given Amigo matches have only started being processed recently then people could use the same status they matched to Amigo to match to Alitalia.

Except if one used Skyteam card to match to Avianca Brazil.

Any ideas for Star Alliance status match? I have plat on Delta.

This is a challenge, not a match.

Had sent AZ Gold & AB Gold card to Avianca Brazil and only received...Star Alliance Silver. Sent a second mail asking why I didn't get Gold with a copy of my EY Gold card. Got a reply one week later with Star Gold status valid until 03/17... ^

Its still odd that some get diamond, others gold, and the rest silver with AZ gold 😊

BUT it is good that they respond to emails, unlike AZ :)

I suppose it depends a lot on who is answering the emails, I very much doubt the workers answering the emails have as much exposure to FFPs as the standard Flyertalk user.

My wife asked AZ for a match from Qantas Platinum One and received Ulisse. The only logic I can see is that the Platinum One card is silver in colour.

Avianca Brazil are probably pretty similar. If you don't get what you want, just ask politely with an explanation of why you think they are wrong. Chances are this will get the request looked at by a supervisor.

Got my wife's A3 silver matched to Amigo Gold. Sent through the email on 28 Oct, got response from Avianca on 23 Nov. However on Avianca website, still showing as bronze card.

Used my LANPASS Comodoro elite card to get successfully matched to Avianca Brazil GOLD. Star Gold status is through till March 2017!

This is my timeline of events;

2nd Nov: Sent e-mail requesting status match with only front and back of elite card.
27th Nov: Received confirmation of status match to GOLD.

Pretty timely process but at least they matched!!! Also, on Avianca website, it shows me as Gold member.

Does anyone know normally how long this gold status is recognised in the Star Alliance system? I have a few *A flights coming up and I don't think print out might be accepted to get benefits and lounge access... :(

I want to know how everyone created their Avianca Amigo account. I can't get into my account, it seems locked up. I never seemed to make it pass the new account process.....

I remember when I signed up.. it wasn't easy... I think I tried multiple times with different things and it just magically worked..... Haha.. I know that's not much help but yeah.. that's how I got mine to sign up...
