Hi everyone, I am a newbie to this and I am looking to do my first churn. I currently have 4 credit cards which I use seldom. They are:
2 Capital One Platinum Cards (Several years old)
Discover Cash Back Card (5 years old)
Chase Freedom Cash Back (2 months old)
My credit is 740 as we speak. I am just looking for quickest way to drum up miles so I can get away as much as possible, including overseas. Want to travel a lot with my wife. I live close to Hartford, CT airport which carries Delta, Southwest and US Airways. What is the best way for me to do this?
Anyone?

Southwest 50k x2 for each of you would get you tons of miles for travel across the good ol' USA.
But if yOu want some International trips. Check out the Chase Sapphire Preferrred and Ink Bold, 50k miles each, and you can transfer them to United MileagePlus accounts and use them for travel on USAIRways and other Star Alliance members.

If you are looking for domestic go with the 50k Southwest. If you are looking to travel internationally go after the 50k Sapphire Preferred. Rumors has it that the bonus is going down to 40k April 1. I would only go after 1 Chase card, since your last Chase app was 2 months ago. But if possible have the wife sign up for the same cards as you. If meeting minimum spends is a issue you can stagger your household apps.
Also, since US Airways flys out of your hub apply for the 40k US Airways Card from Barclays. This card is "churnable" in the truest meaning.
I hope this helps and best of luck.

DTP,
Welcome.
Assuming you don't have miles on any useful airline yet (if you do, you'll want to look at their cards), I agree with what folks have said here. The only thing I'd add is this:
Set a specific goal rather than just getting away a lot. You want to go to Europe twice this year. You want to go to China. You want to go to Hawaii. Whatever.
Then take an organized look at the award charts for Delta and the different Star Alliance carriers, and figure out how many miles it would take to meet your first specific goals.
Then get yourself some FF accounts, cruise the "credit card offers" thread, and start racking up the miles. I suspect you're going to want the Chase Sapphire Preferred, an Amex of some sort, and the Barclay's USAir - but you'll be best-positioned to make those choices when you know what you need to do to get where you want to go.

2) The best deal for domestic travel is to get the Southwest Plus 50K personal and business card for 100K points and then get another 10K points to get the 110K needed for the Southwest Companion pass. You will then get a Companion to fly with you for free until the end of 2013 and can use points to make the award bookings.
Good luck!

Ink Bold is a business CC from Chase. I hesitated in the past applying for this as I had tried applications with the Business Citicards with AA and got turned down for not owning a business (they needed 2 sets of proof for the business card), wasted a credit pull.
Have people gotten good results with Chase applications for Business cards for freelancers like me that only work sometimes at home but don't have a registered business per se.
Thanks

I know tons of anecdotes of ppl with small or no biopsies es being Approved for both biz CC 's.
But the Ink Bold is not necessarily a must apply if you already have the Freedom and then get the Sapphire Preferred and you can transfer you balance Freedom balance to UR and have a nice large hoard of Points.

What sets of proof did they require? Usually of you use your name as the company and say it is run from your home you have a good shot at being approved. But biz cards are riskier If you don't actually own a biz.

Also, utility bill with business name and address. and something else that I can't recall. Yes, they were very strict and didn't accept my say so that I do this freelance at spare time at home.
Wanted to get the facts from people who have tried so don't waste another unnecessary credit pull.
BTW:I wanted to apply for INK because I was going for the 50k bonus sign on offer.

In my experience, Citi is pretty strict about the documentation they require. Not everyone is asked for it, but if you are, you have to give them what they want.
I've never been asked for documentation from Chase, but their analysts ask lots of questions about the business when I call the reconsideration line to get approved. But I do get approved.
I've noticed that Chase likes to see a long business history - even if you don't have much revenue.

collecting miles is not a sprint, you may ready some stories here of peopleing getting a bazillion miles in 3 months but the key is consistancy, first step is make sure all bills are paid and on time and clean up any "old messes" then establish a good payment history, strat with fee free cards that may not offer rewards, in time add some rewards cards 1 or 2 at a time, enjoy the rewards.
remember the reason credit card companies offer these great rewards is to intice new people to sign up, you have to think about what works for you, some of us here game the credit cards and get stuff while paying very little in annual fees and nothing in interest or late payments, others gt excited about the free stuff but dont manage their situation and end up in debt with nothing to show for it.
take your time, establish your credit, get rewards,
Some one new wanting to get 6 cards is like someone wanting to get in shape on new years day so they say i should run 50 miles today, how about start with 1 mile and come back tomarrow and run one more
