It's really a 40K offer kinda. Also has there been a better offer before?

As for the United card I will apply before the 1/31 deadline some have reported. I do finally get the 60K offer after I transferred less then 1K from my CO account.

should i get it now or wait?

i had the old continental one pass card for 1 year and cancelled that in november 2011. At the same time I got my Chase Freedom (30k offer). Now I got the targeted offer for 60k (50k first use + 10k annual spend bonus).

however, i have no use for the miles right now, so i was wondering if it is smarter to wait 6-12 months until something similar comes around instead of signing up for it now and risking being denied because of the recent chase freedom application. (2 months back)

any ideas?

Okay so this is weird. I clicked on the 60K link in my United account. And filled everything out. Then when I clicked submit I got the following.

Something along the lines the offer is no longer available. (First of all even though I submitted it won't do a pull correct?) And anyone else had the same problem? I am so confused what happened. lol

There is no guarantee the 50K first purchase offer will be available again. The Continental offer was available last year but ever since its only been targeted to select people. The miles also never expire so I wouldn't worry about not needing them right away. If I were you I would jump on it but that's my opinion.

You say the miles never expire. On the new United card they expire when you close the card - according to the T&C I received. So if many of us close when the annual fee comes due - need to ave them used.

Are you sure you read correctly? UA/CO miles "never expire" (they can close your account with no activity in 18 months) so why would the credit cards t&c supercede that?

No, the miles do not go anywhere if you close your account. The only chance of that happening is if you close your account within the first six months of having the card but that is really just a threat. This is what the T&C say which is not the same as your statement:

"If your account is not open for at least six months, United and Chase reserve the right to deduct the bonus miles from your MileagePlus Program account."

If you close your account when the annual fee is due you have no risk of losing miles.

I see what you read, "Upon cancellation of your credit card account your miles will expire according to the MileagePlus Program Rules." What that means is the rules of MP apply, and that is they expire with 18 months of no activity. Canceling the cards does not cause your miles to expire.

Thanks for the clarification.

*Your miles don't expire as long as you are a Cardmember with no limit to the number of miles you can earn.

Although with OnePass taking over with the merger and being called Mileage Plus does anyone know if the miles will expire? CO currently don't expire. Anyway, not that it really matters, keeping activity on your account is VERY easy.

Hmm, last week I was successfully able to click-through the special link that dabearz73 posted and signed up with the 60k offer for my girlfriend. Just tried clicking through again this morning to get one for myself, and I get redirected to the "Existing Card Member" catalog. I've cleared cookies and tried different browsers, but still with no luck. Can anyone confirm that the link still brings them to the 60k offer, or is this one perhaps gone?

Edit: After clicking the link a few times, I'm taken to the correct 60k application page. When trying to submit the application, however, I receive the same error message as World-Wide. The error states that the offer is no longer available, and just provides a link to the main Chase United Explorer Card page.

Palaimo Jan 25, 2012 9:09 am

Really? Is this no longer available?! I was hoping to apply in the next couple days before the reported Jan 31 expiration.

I can still click through to the application, but it sounds like that doesn't mean anything. Anyone have any luck?

smith8917 Jan 25, 2012 9:51 am

Does anyone get the "Application Unavailable" even when the 60K link is available on their united.com page? I can't see to find a way (private browsing, different browser, different computer) to get it to accept my application for the 60K. Once that fails, it presents the 40K deal. Anyone fix this problem or have any tips?

Daggett76 Jan 25, 2012 10:44 am

Just tried it, also get the "Offer Unavailable" message after submitting the application.
Hope it's just a temporary glitch?

Palaimo Jan 25, 2012 10:56 am

Did anyone call Chase after attempting to apply? If I was trying to apply today I would want to know if the app was actually processed.

dyang003 Jan 25, 2012 11:02 am

same here, tried to apply for the card this morning.. submitted my app and said offer could not be found.
