When I called Chase this morning to ask a question about my other account and the United Explorer account on the Chase account page today, the rep assured me it was for 50k bonus miles on lst spend...I asked 3 times....should I be concern now and think I will only receive 25k with first spend?
I never received a welcome email for the card but did ask for one biz day UPS service when I applied **Edit** I never got the welcome email, I did get my 50k; however, both of my parents did and it does verify the 50k. Good luck! |

The welcome email doesn't verify the bonus anyway. So just to understand this the reconsideration line told you 40k (25k first spend, 5k add user, 10k $25k spend) and then the regular CSR told you 60k (50k first spend, 10k $25k spend)?
**Edit** I never got the welcome email, I did get my 50k; however, both of my parents did and it does verify the 50k. Good luck! Yes, this is correct. And I used the regular Chase number to call 800-432-3117 . I asked CSR to confirm that I would receive 50k miles and no annual fee for 1st spend. I asked 3 times during the conversation and he answered "yes, this is correct" When I applied last week, I had a wait and see instead of instant approval so I called the reconsideration line. CSR said he was not able to see a credit report so I asked him to pull the one I unfroze for him. Within less than a minute, he approved me. This is when I asked and he told me the offer was for 40k unless I was solicited and applied for the 60k offer. This is why the initial worrying.....so now you have me worried....who is correct? 40k or 60k ?? |

Keep in mind that it's only been available, what? - about a week - so it's still early. But if you follow directions and nothing goes wrong, I would assume that the miles will flow - no reason to doubt it.
Still, I took screen shots. :D |
I applied for the offer several months ago and was denied for too many chase inquiries - I'm trying to apply again on United.com (I have Unites status), however the 60k offer says "your application is being processed" and doesn't have a link to Apply. Since the first app is months old, Chase said I need to re apply.
Any advice on how to get the Apply link to show up? Am I only allowed one attempt at this offer or something? Thank you. |

Because I plan to apply for another Chase card in a few months, and want to have plenty of credit available for that one.
It's nice to know that they're ready to extend that much credit to me by default (especially when I probably have a total of $20,000-$30,000 in credit available on my *other* 4 or 5 Chase credit cards) but I'll certainly never use anything close to that. YMMV.

I agree. I lowered mine from 23k today. I'll never need that much, and I would prefer to be approved for my next Chase card automatically without being interrogated and having to ask them to move credit from another card.
The lowering credit limit so you would have more room for the next card was the strategy for the past, way past, before the 2008/2009 financial crisis. The current practice Chase has is, if the credit limit is lowered by the cardholders - that means the cardholders do NOT need as much credit. The system automatically "locks" your total credit allowed at the level after you lower it. We learned this by making the mistake 18 months ago - we lowered a huge line on BA card a few months before we canceled it, thinking we would leave more room for new card. Guess what? When my husband applied the Priority Club card to meet the Crack the Case promotion, instead of getting the usual 20K limit, he got a $1900! We called to ask what happened, particularly we just lowered his BA credit line from $28K to $10K. We were told the reason why as I described above. Nobody could over-ride it. Luckily we kept $10K on the BA card so we could move the bulk of it to the PC card - otherwise, I dont know how a hotel card with only $1900 could do when you travel. A subsequent CO targeted 50K offer got a credit line of $2000, even 12 months had passed from the BA line lowering mistake. It took over well over a year to regain back the lowered amount. His latest Marriott card had an instant approval and a decent line like in the past. The correct strategy is to keep the maximum credit line Chase is willing to give you. And to call to check if you need to reallocate lines when your application is not instantly approved. You do not need to wait for denial letter - just wait a few hours to may be overnight, the time needed for your application to be preliminarily evaluated by the system and gave enough internal rating for the credit specialist to look at - when you call, all the credit specialist needs is to verify the basic info on your application - so dont forget what you have filled out - and s/he would tell you if you have reached the max. You then can tell him or her which card(s) you can reduce the line to meet the new card's minimum line. That is the way to do it. Having a large credit line in most cases, is an asset. Having a 20K line does not mean you have to charge up 10K. It is perfectly fine to use only 5 to 10% of the available line - helps your FICO as well. |

I've talked to a handful of people at Chase and they keep passing me along to someone else who can't help. If I log out of my United MP account, it will allow me to apply for the 40k offer (shows the "Apply Now" button). When I am logged in to my account, the 60k offer shows up - however, instead of "Apply Now" it states "Your application is currently being processed". Again, I did the app for the 60k offer in October and was denied b/c I had just gotten the Sapphire as well as many inquiries. That application is no longer "active" with Chase as it has been more than 30 days. Am I only allowed to apply for 60k once? |
United/Continental
Hoping I can get some insight from everyone.
I want to maximize the United/Continental takeover. I have one Continental MC pre-July and had intended to apply for the business version before it left. I've not seen any language about multiple sign-up for the CO Biz vs UA biz; no cut-off dates like the CO/UA personal bonus. The best offer I saw was 30k but it's something. With this new offer I'm considering a CO Biz and UA personal app. Does anyone see any issues with this? In doing so I'm deferring a UA biz and Chase Bold application to a later round with Chase. |

Got the decision pending message when I applied just a few minutes ago.
Got the same thing for the Sapphire Preferred a few months ago which I applied for just before a trip. By the time I got home the card was in the mail waiting for me. I'm headed away for another trip, hopefully the same thing happens again and I come home to a new card. After Chase has been giving me relatively low credit lines the last few times I expected the card to have a somewhat low limit in the 5-7k range. Instead it was for $20k! I don't plan on keeping the UA card for too long, hopefully I can talk them into moving a lot of that line over to my Sapphire Preferred card which I do plan to keep long term. |

Hope for those with the old UA MP Visa
I have an active United Mileage Plus "Visa Signature" card opened a decade ago, and all the offers I got to "upgrade" to the Explorer card were pretty crappy (no bonus miles, no fee waiver).
I was able to get the 60K offer to appear last Wednesday by logging in and out of MP a few times and pasting the link in this thread (I think it finally came up while logged in, but only when I pasted into a new tab; it took a few tries). Took screenshots of the offer, filled out the application, and got a screen saying up to 10 days for a decision. Called the reconsideration number from this thread the next day and the agent immediately said I'd have to take some credit from the existing card and asked how much. That was fine as it's gone up to way way more than I'd ever use, so I had her put half on each. She said it was approved, and the new card number appeared at chase.com on Monday. The key is that I got an email confirmation that "Your new Card is on its way" and "Remember, you will receive 50,000 bonus miles after the first use of your Card." So I'm pretty sure once I receive the cards that all will be well. I debated even trying it, so thought others with an existing card would be interested in confirmation that it appears we are eligible. |
