Any Prior UA's get the Explorer 50K Yet?
I got the old UA credit card some 16 months ago and closed it 6 months ago.
Has anyone who had the old UA card before gotten the new bonus yet ?? |
Yes, that new link worked for my sister. Thanks
|
ugh
go for this, or go for sapphire preferred? |
Sapphire has $3000 spend, no free luggage, no United passes.
Sapphire lets you have more options with the points. Like I could combine my Chase Freedom points together with my Sapphire points. Go for both:) Explorer Card first and when points post, the Sapphire. |
I may have missed it, but going through this thread I don't think I saw any confirmation that previous United cardholders can get the bonus miles — is that right?

I have, still active, both an old UA signature card and a CO OP card (opened early 2011), and have received the Explorer Card in November, and have the 50,000 miles sitting in my account as of last month. |
60,000 offer link page
Just wondering if I have the 60,000 offer in my MilagePlus account, could a friend fill out the application from that link? Was wondering, if I had to do the workaround for my husband to get the 60,000 offer to pop, or could he have just used the offer from my MilagePlus account? In otherwords, is the offer I see in my account only good for me?

I don't have Continental miles, but could have use hubbies account to sign up if it would work |

Thanks a lot for the confirmation. Now I am almost ready to pull the trigger. Will wait till the end of January to hear more stories.

Applied Jan 4th - got the "pending decision" message. I was planning on calling reconsideration dept today when I get a call from Chase.
"We see you have applied for the UA card - we cant give you any more credit but could we take $5K from another card?" Ofcourse, I said:) I was fully expecting that I would have needed to close 1 or perhaps 2 cards - as I now have SIX active Chase cards: 1 Continental (no annual fee version) 2 Amtrak 3 Saphire 4 Freedom 5 Marriott 6 UA Explorer Very pleased that I did not have to close the Continental as this card is about 7 years old. While I dont see the UA card online yet, I can already see that the credit limit on my Amtrak is reduced by $5000, so that's the card they decided to pick to "steal" some credit from. I also note in an email I received from Chase back in August 2011: I am pleased to confirm that since the United MP Explorer product is a new product, you would not be denied the enrollment bonus if you previously held another United MP product. No doubt this is mentioned in another thread, but thought it worthwhile to mention it here. So get your 50,000 miles for 1 purchase now - fab deal !! |

Didn't need miles in account to get approved for offer
I e-mailed a friend all the info and told her to read thread from Jan. 3 to the end and follow whatever people are saying to do. She set up a United account and following all the help, did the workaround and got approved for the 60,000 offer. Again, she just opened an United account and has no miles there or on Continential. She was amazed on how easy it all was. :D

I'm not sure if anyone else already reported this, but I applied for the Explorer card about 2.5 months ago and got the 30k bonus (because I needed the miles ASAP, I decided not to wait for the improved offer). Last week, I emailed Chase asking if they would up my bonus to 50k, and they agreed.
The miles haven't shown up in my account yet, but I have no reason to think that they won't. |
