I figured it was worth risking for the 2 pts it cost my credit score
I have both the UA and CO cards active, but I'm about to cancel them as their annual fees are coming in the next couple months. Applied for the Explorer using the 60k link and was instantly approved. (Also have a Disney card w/Chase which has been open for years.) We'll see if the miles post! |

OK. My account closed in the early am, and the 50K showed up in my UA account within the last hour. To recap, I have had the CO Mastercard for 15 months now, canceled my UA Visa in June 2011 after 1 year, applied for the UA Explorer mid-December 2011 with instant approval and got my CHASE EXPLORER ENROLLMENT BONUS 50,000 today with a $10 purchase. I think we're all safe on this one.

Yes.
I have, still active, both an old UA signature card and a CO OP card (opened early 2011), and have received the Explorer Card in November, and have the 50,000 miles sitting in my account as of last month. |

When I called to cancel my CO card, they offered a credit that was $15 more than the renewal fee, so I kept the card.

If you keep the card will it not automatically get converted to the UA card? I am in the same position but have heard if it gets converted you will not be able to obtain the sign up bonus in the future.

Got the decision pending message when I applied just a few minutes ago.
Got the same thing for the Sapphire Preferred a few months ago which I applied for just before a trip. By the time I got home the card was in the mail waiting for me. I'm headed away for another trip, hopefully the same thing happens again and I come home to a new card. I had to temporarily change my billing address for a few months a year or so ago which sometimes seems to hold these things up until a human can look at it, or at least that's what someone mentioned at one time. Cancelled my CO card a month ago. I would have liked to use it to do the credit line shuffle but this offer wasn't out and I was worried if I didn't cancel it before 2012 rolled around that I would be stuck with a new UA card + no bonus and then not be eligible for a bonus. |
From the good news on new bonuses, I applied and phoned reconsideration immediately. Closed my Southwest to get the new Explorer.
I got a UA cc 15 months ago and closed it 3 months ago. |

Approved!
For the longest time, I thought Chase hates me (they wouldn't let me have more than one credit card as of last year) and I never understood why in spite of my good credit history. This offer was way too good to pass up (esp. since I have some major trips on United this year) and I figured it was worth the credit pull. I called the day after I applied, but no decision was made.
I called the automated status line just now, I found out that I had been approved, with a reasonably large credit line! Finally! This is without me having to call the consideration line. I thought I was going to have to call in or denied outright because 1) there has been a number of inquiries as of late 2) I had recently (about 6 weeks) ago gotten the Chase Ink Card (which took them nearly 25 days to make an decision), and had gotten the Chase Sapphire in the last 6 months (most of my spend are on the this card, so maybe that helps?) :) I had an old United Select card from way back when which was cancelled almost two years ago, so I'm also equally encouraged to read that others are getting the bonus for this new card. I'm so looking forward to getting the card in my hands. :D |

For my wife and she gets nervous with the recon people |
Yes. The chase automated status line is 1800-945-2006. Hit #, then 2 to check status of your application. You'll be prompted for your SSN # to check your application status. Good luck!

I think as long as you are nice to the people on the reconsideration line, they will approve you. You dont need *more* credit with Chase... you just want to spread out the credit you already have. They like doing that :)

How many days after the "we'll see" message is the best to call account specialists (which would be reconsideration, I guess?)?
Data point: She just cancelled the UA signature 7 days ago, but it wasnt even mentioned. Ironically, after she cancelled, we received a thank you for your continued signature business, and her replacement card came in the mail today. Two ships passing in the night.... |
