While by no means unreachable it always amazes me how hard it is to get to places in the former Soviet Union using miles (besides Moscow/Petersburg). Even places like Minsk and Kharkov are a real challenge, and they're medium-sized European cities.

S7 is a partner in one world hence avios can be used for redemption inside russia and availability is quite big. I would hav thought that AAdvantage miles can also be used.
Redeem miles Use AAdvantage miles to book award travel on S7 with oneworld and Other Airline Awards which allow you to travel to and from your desired destination using any combination of our airline participants. Please note that destinations in Eastern Russia are not valid for redemption on S7 using this award type. |
Exiting Vzl through miles is difficult.

For some reason (I guess because they are codeshare/Airlink flights), it is not possible to redeem UA miles for Swaziland or Madagascar.
For Swaziland, you can just fly into JNB or another nearby city in ZA and then travel by land to SZ. Although I honestly don't think that there's that much to see in SZ. |

Now, I don't believe the Air Iceland flights from REK "domestic" are available for redemption (and they ain't cheap, especially the ones to Ilulissat!) and I haven't looked into it but not sure if the Air Greenland flights allow redemption opportunities. Furthermore, GL is essentially a territory, just like Tahiti or Bermuda... it's not an independent country. |

Could have done it a few years ago when SAS was running to Kangerlussuaq. It was pricing as a then 50K UA Europe award via CPH.
