Some advice for a possible App o Rama
I have been following this forum now for a while and thought it would be a good time to start an app o rama but want some advice from my fellow FT'ers about which cards I should sign up for.....
I already have Chase SWA, Continental, Sapphire Preferred, and Slate
as well as
Am Ex Blue, and Delta
and
Citi Platinum Select and AAdvantage Visa
The Cards I am looking at signing up for are the Chase Priority Club Visa 80k (I have been targeted),Chase Hyatt, Chase Marriott, Hilton Am Ex or Citi Visa, SPG Am Ex, AAdvantage Am Ex, Air Tran, United, Alaska, US Air, and Virgin
What realistically can i expect to be accepted for and how many cards can I have with each company? My FICO is 741, and I applied for the Chase Sapphire 2 weeks ago and was approved, before that I applied for the Capital One 100k point match back in Feb and was denied those are my only two applications in 2011.
Should I apply all in one day?
Any advice I would love
Thanks

You can check out credit boards to see what agency these banks pull in your state. Giving you an idea on what the pull count will look like.
You may want to hold out altogether until mid-July. ingy aka the frugal travel guy, visit his site if you are serious about this app o rama, said there will be more interesting offers by then. Including an altogether new card coming down the pipeline.

It seems that you're looking at several Chase cards. I realize that the 1 app every 60 days saying is a myth - I was just approved for 2 Chase products - BUT, I went through manual underwrite and a recon on both and was asked why I wanted the cards (FICO is 750+). I'm not certain it's the best idea to app for THAT many cards at once. You should app for the cards with the best current sign up bonuses, not the the cards with a "standard" bonus.

It truly depends what you want. Are you just looking to net the most miles irregardless of the program or do you have a certain program in mind? Do you have Frequent Flyer accounts with any programs? What is your airport?
There are a two 35k mile offers for Hawaiin Airlines and 40k Alaska Airlines. If you are on west coast or are able to fly these airlines they are both good offers. Another BofA option is the Virgin Atlantic 65k, which have pretty good transfer partners.
If you are willing to take a chance on boosting a bonus, 75k targeted, then the AmEx gold is a choice. You would need to send a secure message to AmEx requesting the extra 50k points. 1 credit pull from this.
Then there is the Citi Personal Amex and Citi Business which you can get for a total of 150k miles. When did you last apply for a Citi Card? You need 60 days between personal card applications. Applying for these two cards will result in 2 credit pulls.
These 3 apps would result in 3 hard pulls but would net you 225k new points/miles.
I am not sure if you can handle that heavy of an app run after your recent history. You may need to stay low key and wait a bit longer to restore a clean sheet for a serious app run.

I would recommend not applying for more than one Chase card. If you are ultimately declined for one of them it could be much harder applying for a Chase card in the medium term.

Based on CB lists for California, Chase/Amex pulls from Experian and most likely Citi, so you need to keep this in mind when you apply for cards.
I would wait on applying for Chase for at least a few more weeks, maybe wait until the last possible date to apply for your 80k PC card and see what happens. And try the BoA or Amex cards if there is no major concern from your cap1 denial.

Have you checked your credit score/reports lately? That might be a good starting point. And what was the reason for denial for the cap1 card? I'd be more concerned about that.

Can you reference me to these cards you're talking about? I cannot seem to find it after a google search/BoA or Barclay's website. Also, how much time do you think it will take between churns for these cards?
