BA 2 for 1 and $30K spend really worth it?

Some may not understand the mechanism - that is when you transfer 20K SPG to AA miles you get 5K bonus, so this works only when transferring SPG in multiple 20K trunk. And I believe there is a daily limit and yearly limit on that though never look into the details as SPG pts for hotel stay are quite valuable as well. I would only do the transfer should AA has another 30% bonus offer a la Summer of 2010. Or if someone needs to top up his AA account for an award. Else, SPG pts in the form of SPG pts are more valuable and more flexible.

There is a daily limit of 99,999 miles, but because of the way the transfer bonus is implemented the maximum efficient daily transfer is 60,000 Starpoints which yields 75,000 AAdvantage miles. If you charge more than $2.19 million per year the annual limit could be an issue.
Starpoints also transfer to BA on the same basis. There is no compelling reason to choose the BA VISA card on the basis of the 1.25 miles per dollar feature, but it does suggest that Chase was aware of the SPG card and matched it.

The BA 2-for 1 is a GREAT deal, but you can use it ONLY on BA metal and have to pay fuel surcharges and taxes.
But if $1300 as taxes and fees seem high and you want to save the cash, then you may be better off redeeming on partner airlines which don't charge the fuel surcharge. That would be LAN for South America and Cathay Pacific for Far East.

When do you get the vouchers? If the vouchers expire from the day you hit the 30K spend, wouldn't you want to save the last $1 of spend until the end of the year to extend the voucher as long as possible?

This is fairly straightforward.
2 for 1 Voucher, BA Metal:
2 people = X miles and about $650 per person for the simple trip to Europe
Single OW Partner:
2 people = 2X miles and a fraction of cost in taxes per person for the same trip.
So for US-LHR/Europe 1 in F, you either pay about $1300 or an extra 150K BA miles. I personally choose the BA metal option since it's almost always my wife and I traveling together.
Now if you wanted stopovers elsewhere from LHR, to fly somewhere besides Europe or Africa where BA isn't an option (or at least shouldn't be based on the mileage cost) or between regions not including US or LHR, that's a separate issue.

you have 2 years to use the voucher regardless of whether you hit the spend in june or december. Voucher is issued upon closing of the statement that you crossed the 30k line

Who can the tickets be issued to?
Aunt is on family account, she doesn't travel (elderly) and has her own Chase BA cc account. DH just got the Visa card (plus bonus) and now we have 2 big tuitions to pay soon. Can split it up on either (or both) cards so will easily make the 30K spend. If we do it on Aunt's card I wonder if the rest of the family who's on the family account can use the 2 4 1 cert. so in effect our family of 4 will be able to go away next year using only 1/2 the usual miles. That would be sweet since we're hoping to take the kids to London some time and also would like to travel on to another BA destination as final stop.
TIA
