Does anybody know "verified by visa" code?
When I am using the virtual number online, the system asked me this code, but I have never set it up before, and I called citi, seems the csrs are also not familiar with that..
do you know how to set up this code?

"Verified by Visa" is a program established by Visa to add an additional layer of security to your on-line credit card purchases.
When you register your card in the "Verified by Visa" program, you are provided with an additional password to verify that the on-line use of the card is approved by you, instead of an unauthorized user.
I have been asked for my "Verified by Visa" password in approximately a dozen on-line purchases, most of them being airline tickets.

Yes, I have checked this website, but everytime I input my visa number, it goes wrong..as
You cannot access this page.
This may be due to one of two reasons:
1. The FI you are trying to access is deactivated
2. The access to the FI is restricted for specific IP addresses, and your address is not one of them.
I am using citi visa, what visa are you using?

I don't participate in ''Verified by Visa'' but some European airlines use Verified by Visa on all card purchases. With some airlines, Verified by Visa kicks back my CapOne card, which is the one I want to use due to the lack of the 3% junk fee. WizzAir is by far the worst on that. It really ticks me off when it asks me to use another card, which will add 3% to the cost that I don't have to pay with CapOne. I don't want to use another stinking card. I want to use CapOne. The Verified by Visa system says my card has been declined but calling CapOne their system says the charge never even came through from Verified by Visa and if it did it would certainly be approved. If there is another airline I can use, I frequently do that and the CapOne card goes through with no problem. I have not been able to get Wizz to give me a phone number for Verified by Visa so that I could call them up about the absolute incompetence of their system. Does anyone have a phone number for the Verified by Visa jerks?

I dont understand why people have problems with the Verified by Visa system ...
Just call the bank that issues your card.
They are the ones to set up this additional security level.
My Visa card is from a German bank and it was a very straight forward process (online at my CC account / less than 5 mins) to "upgrade" to the verified by VISA level.
You need to provide your mobile number (cant remember if there were other options) to which VISA will send the code as a text message every time a code is requested. This code is valid for 10 mins only. If you wait too long you need a new one ...
Theres no such thing like a single "PIN" for verified by VISA !
Your card may well have a PIN but it is irrelevant for the verified by VISA process because you get a new code for every transaction.
Make sure you dont block pop ups because some websites generate a pop-up to enter this code during the payment process.
Never had any problems with the verified by VISA system so far !

"If your issuer is participating in Verified by Visa you may be asked to complete a brief activation process. To complete the process, you will verify your identity by answering a few simple questions then create your Verified by Visa password and you are done. Once your card is activated, your card number will be recognized whenever you shop at a participating Verified by Visa merchant. You will enter your password in the Verified by Visa window, your identity will be verified and the transaction will be completed."

I detest Verified by Visa. I was forced to sign up for it about a year ago for an airline ticket purchase online. Incredibly, at that time the signup procedure never told me what my userid would be. I had to telephone my Visa card's customer service to learn that my userid would be my first and last names joined together, i.e. firstlast. Maybe by now they've figured out that people need to know what their userid is, but back then they didn't.

My own experience:
Had the same difficult experiences with "Verified by Visa" while trying to purchase airline tickets on an Asian carrier on several occasions. Had to call my credit card company repeatedly and, much the same as @Carolinian's experience, dealt with CSRs who could see no evidence of my trying to purchase the tickets. When they could, they were often unable to do anything about it. To me, it seemed like the back-end IT systems that handle the credit card transactions and the VbV authentication process weren't communicating properly.
I asked one CSR "Do you get complaint calls about "Verified by Visa" often?".
"All the time...", she said.
I think I finally just gave up and booked a flight with a different card on a competing airline. After going through this several times, I felt that I'd rather give up the money savings -- both on the ticket and on a foreign transaction fee -- if it meant that I could stop wasting valuable minutes of my life on hold for people who couldn't fix the problem anyways.
Credit card fraud is a real issue and I understand the need for airlines to rigorously authenticate users at the point-of-sale (especially if doing so gives them a better rate with the banks). As far as I can tell, however, the Verified by Visa program is poorly implemented. In my case, it drove my business to a different airline -- and to American Express instead of Visa.
I can't help but feel that I'm not alone in this and, if I were working in the IT/Finance departments of an airline, I would have real concerns that the incremental savings gained by using Verified by Visa in my checkout process are being offset by frustrated customers going elsewhere with their business.

@Steve M: Right?!? From a merchant's perspective, it seems unlikely that the semi-frequent loss of 100% of your revenue for things like airline tickets (from people like us saying "Forget it!") could be offset by reducing the USD $.07 per $100 costs attributed to CC fraud.**
