I got a Visa personal card under the old 75k offer back in September. I just got an offer in the mail for a 40k Citi AAdvantage Mastercard "valid only for first-time Citi/AAdvantage cardmembers". I remember reading somewhere in this thread about applying for one of the other offers (Amex or Visa business if you previously got a Visa personal) after 60 days. Should that strategy work in applying for a Mastercard if you got a Visa 60+ days before? Has anyone tried this? Here is the link for the offer I'm talking about:

miles9.citicards.com

By the way, here is the link for the other latest Visa/Amex offer:
http://creditcards.citicards.com/usc...0k/default.htm

Thanks,
Os

I don't believe so.
You can only apply at 60+ days for a business Visa - not another personal card

Many have tried it and they almost always get the "first time only" denial. Info that explains it is in the second post on page 1 of this thread.

Thanks, sounds like my best bet is to apply for the 50k Citi Visa business card.

depends on how many personal card you want.

If you want just 1, no need to wait, apply now. If you want 2, wait 60+ days, and apply 2 on same day.

How long do you have the keep the cards once you have qualified on the spending minimum. I have gotten both of my 75K miles...so, how long do I have to keep them open to not then forfeit those miles?

No lenght of time, but being free for a year, why get rid of them before you need to?

Data Point: Called to say I'm "Thinking of cancelling because the annual fee is coming up." Was transferred to a specialist whom I said the exact same thing "I am thinking of cancelling because the annual fee is coming due, if you can help me that might change my mind"

Was immediately offered a statement credit of the fee plus 500 extra miles each month I spend $500 for the next 16 months.

I was denied initially for credit/income ratio but my household income has recently changed. Think I could reapply?

Believe me I'll be doing the same in Feb when my Chase CO comes up... if they don't waive the annual fee I'll switch to one of Chase's million other no annual fee cards and sock drawer it.

3 more points:

my CitiBank Visa - $85 fee waived and 1K miles in any of the next 16 billing cycles that I spend $1000.

my CitiBank AmEx - $85 fee waived, nothing more. I didn't care, since I can't spend any more.

friend's CitiBank Visa - $85 fee waived and 750 miles in any of the next ?? billing cycles that she spends $750.
