The text taken directly from the email (both times): Thank you for applying for a Business Card account. We
are unable to approve your application at this time because
of the following:

o You have submitted multiple applications for credit.

The first time I applied for the Biz was back in Aug; right after getting both the personal Visa and AX 100k. I made a quick call but did not push as I had just got the other two. Was told to wait 60 days - which I did. The most recent was earlier this week. Got the same email and 60 Day talk (see my earlier post). But this time I spent a bit of time on the phone and they gave the Biz card to me - after all it was past the 60 days that they kept spouting off about.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

This is good to know. Pretty much the exact same happened to me. Applied for all 3, only the 2 personal cards approved. Was told to wait 60 days and try again for the business card, that date will be Oct 30th. I'll wait till the 31st I guess...

Approved for personal Visa 100k + AmEx 100k with 2 hour gap between applications

In my message #2393, I explained that I was instantly approved for personal Visa, waited 2 hours to apply for the personal AmEx and was then deferred in a way that resembled the treatment received by those denied for multiple applications. Well, I just called the application status line again and was told that the AmEx app was approved. I have also edited my original message to add this news.

Too small for me. I never carry a balance, and my limits are high enough, so I don't really care much about my FICO score. I do care about 300,000 AA bonus miles, though.

Why some application came up with ID while others not?

For my business card applied today, I got an ID# and called to answer a few questions, and then got approved.

For personal card, no ID #. Just a thank you note for "application...".

for the Personal, I apply online, and received an ID # and call and got approved after answering some quesitons about some "new" options ( trying to sell me some insurance...)

For the business, I applied online, and after I hit finish or submit, they said, they will be back in touch with me...No ID # provided.

After 5 days, I called, and they said it was still in progress, somewhere in the queue.

In today USPS 1st class mail, I got the bus card....so it took approx 10 days...

So can I go after the 3rd CARD, the one with the Citi Amex logo...?

Has anyone gotten approved for the third and last card...?

PS: I never had any previous Citi cards whatsoever....

There are general 3 different types of outcome after application submission.

For the personal cards:

1) Instant Approval. No ID but does not matter.

2) Gets to Step 5 with ID and invitation to accessorize your future card plus an 800 number to call. Very good sign to receive approval even if you do not call to try for instant result.

3) Stopped dead at Step 3, no ID.
No ID number means the application does not pass the initial checking by the computer. Meaning it most likely be denied. You will see the ID number when the denial letter arrives.

For the business cards:

Basically the same 3 types with some added twists.

Far fewer instant approvals.

Often no ID but after long review an approval is ultimately granted, sometimes required further documentation.

Is it worth even phoning up about these ones (prior to denial letter being received)? Not sure from the many (sometimes vague and apparently contradictory) data points scattered throughout the thread whether it's likely to be able to influence their decision if the app. took this route...

No. Because you do not know the reasons for denial until you receive the denial letter, you cannot present your case. Besides.without ID the credit specialist would most likely not want to look up your application even though I am sure they could find it using SSN.

Some reasons of denials can be explained away and reconsideration requested (whether granted or not is a different matter), some reasons of denial have no room for reconsideration, such as the "first time customer only".

I was told to call and they told me to show 2 forms documents.. business utility, insurance, bank statements, phone bill, etc. The problem is, I don't have any. Any idea if they'll accept my regular utility and phone bills? If not, shall I just cancel my business app and accept the wasted credit hit?

Thanks
I have the exact same question! Anyone have any answer?

Call back and explain the situation. This can't be the first time that someone doesn't have a unique business name.

Sorry but, are they asking for more documents because of a duplicate business name issue?

Huh? I have never heard of this. I looked up the post 114 and 299 in this thread but they were irrelevant to this subject. Could someone confirms? I really want the 100k bonus miles
