Original premium fare deal was for QR J class travel, originating in Vietnam (SGN and HAN) to several destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Travel period 8/2017 - 3/2018 inclusive, RT fares in the USD 500 - 700 range (USD $0.05 base fare).

Reports have now been circulating that all held, non-purchased fares have been canceled by the airline. Some held and then purchased fares were also canceled, but several reports indicate at least some of those have been re-instated.

For more information on flying Qatar Airways, visit the FT forum: Qatar Airways | Privilege Club. This thread in that forum is especially useful: Qatar Airways Forum Dashboard.

This wikipost is intended to help us better understand if there are any trends (by route, travel date, and/or held/ticketed status) in these cancellations. In all entries, please include: outbound or inbound departure date, origin-destination, original ticket status (only *if* "Held" or "Ticketed after Hold"), and current ticket status only *if* your ticket was cancelled ("Cancelled" or "Cancelled & Reinstated").

Yes, most are still at the "unrealistically optimistic in the face of impending cancelations" stage (aka denial). I believe anger comes next.

Yeah, I flew through Doha last fall and just did the $35 visa on arrival. Worst case, that's very easy.

As an AA ExecPlat I would have earned 46K RDMs. Figuring 1¢ a mile that means QR would have to pay out $460 for these miles on my $676 fare less about $200 in non-airline fees and taxes. In effect, the spurious Fuel Surcharge (from an oil producing Emirate when fuel is at its cheapest level in years) just about covers the cost of the FF miles that would have had to be purchased.
This is from user "Victorio Chatra" on Twitter, posted to the QR Twitter page ~10 hours ago, saying "Thanks for your golden ticket"

I'm thinking that too. My one cancelled ticket was for my elderly father. No FF, but as an OWE, my tickets are still alive!!

Qatar is better known as a natural gas producer than an oil producer.

It's one thing when a fare pops out of nowhere, I understand that. But when an airline says that there is going to be a special opportunity to try business class "soon", and then within 24 hrs this happens, I can't honestly say this wasn't a mistake, and the cancellations are not justifiable, anger is a very reasonable outcome.

I purchased three RTs -- two to GRU and one to EZE.

All three were ticketed immediately and all three are still intact. Seats chosen and AA number given.

My SGN-DOH-JFK rt ticket hasn't been cancelled (yet?). I held it for about an hour before purchasing. I put in my AA # while booking, but I have no status.

Isn't there cancellation between? Then, yes, anger, "Oh, we should sue!" "Does EU 261 apply?!".

Mine is still showing as confirmed. Was able to apply for the free transit visa, and now I have a confirmed Doha hotel stopover (free through QR for layovers 8+ hours). Just trying to make it as difficult for them as possible to cancel (at least two more clicks of the mouse...maybe carpal tunnel will strike)
