You can easily tack on the positioning flights SFO-LAX and PDX-SFO, which bump it up to $197 total: https://goo.gl/flights/PNBK.
man any weekend but that one i'd be game.

Is 1hr 40 min enough time to change plans in JFK? I would assume so since arriving on Virgin and departing on Virgin.

Just wanted to double check.

Thanks!
Does this mean I can get the full route for that fare but hop on and hop on SFO and not finish rest of the route? Would i still get credit for the full mileage? Bear with me, just 2nd day of trying to absorb this wizardry...

You can't no-show the first segment -- they'll cancel the rest of the ticket. But if you just so happen to miss the last leg (be discreet -- don't check luggage or tell the airline) you can certainly terminate at SFO. It's not illegal, but airlines have rules against hidden city tickets (which this sorta is).

Airline technically can come after you for regular price skipping a leg, Will it happen if you do it once in a blue moon, probably not (Id say never but dont want this to be the one case where it does). In practice all but the unflown leg will credit (based on what happens with other carriers). Any down line legs will be cancelled so it should only be the last that you ever skip.

Just booked my 6th and 7th... I just couldn't help the prospect of 75K from such an amazing MR opportunity!!

And to think... I haven't even booked most of my connecting/positioning flights from ANC/FAI

Any idea if these are going to eventually count towards Lifetime/MM status on AS?

Pretty awesome with SkySmiles on VS. Get 20% MQDs via distance flown. And it's full MQMs(Minus the final leg is 50%).

Lost a couple of segments on my MR due to a 3 hour mechanical issue delay on the plane that came in from SFO, followed by a very close to 3 hour snow delay on the PDX tarmac Tuesday night. We managed to have wheels up just after midnight with literally a few minutes to spare (otherwise we would have had to turn around to the gate). Having communicative and resourceful pilots with a sense of humor made all the difference.

Also, that night I learned that it costs nearly 4K to de-ice the A320 we were on.

And to think I'm doing another run next week.

Hoping you didn't lose the transcon segments.

I think you are officially the first one to take this VX MR....what segments did you lose? I'm using my VX runs for elite qualification so I can't afford to "lose" any segments but perhaps you could file for original routing credit? How was the inflight experience?

Actually, I would think IRROPS + a nice quick PDX-LAX-PDX nonstop + ORC would be the goal for just about everybody here, aside from the SFO crowd.

Oh for the wiki:

Oct 11
PDX-SFO-JFK-LAX

Oct 22
LAX-JFK-SFO-PDX
