When/where are we going to meet in Rio for such things?
But, seriously, I am going to at least buy you a beer when I'm down there! Want me to bring anything down from the States that you cannot get down there (and is legal for me to bring down )?

Flew GRU-MIA on the red eye this morning FA said 12,000 tickets booked on this glitch. I wonder how much AA will lose on those code share flights... yikes.

Then again, they did just report the "highest quarterly profit in company history" a month ago today: $1.9 billion net profit. So, they can "afford" to honor these now where they might not have been able to in leaner times.

Brazil next week
Hello all,
I will be traveling next week to Rio alone for the weekend. I have never been and am excited to go. Does anyone have suggestions regarding where to stay, places to avoid, suggestions for some type of guided tour. Any information will be much appreciated.

Edit: this assumes you are EXP. You can check AA to see what kind of bonus applies to you based on your AA status.

Yeah, I didn't think that one out until it dawned on me this weekend. I have a cartão de cidadão and thought that would work. I did some research and found out that is not enough. Had to go to the Portuguese consulate this morning and ordered a passport which I should receive before my trip.

I do not have any time to elaborate right now, but my wife and I blogged about our time down in Rio (and other parts of Brazil) last summer:

If you have eVIPs to burn I'd say use them since you get 12,000 miles for flying a 3,000+ miles in F (A fare) instead of the 3,500 you get for flying J. Another potential benefit might be in case of IRROPS specially going to Asia. You may end up in CX F instead of AA F which is much better. Other than that, I agree, no real reason to upgrade.
Edit: this assumes you are EXP. You can check AA to see what kind of bonus applies to you based on your AA status.
