Ah posting that spurred action - ticketed a minute later

Looks like I have some company already in GF for all my flights

What routing did you select? With the 6h00 a.m. dpt from BOS and 10h00 p.m. back into BOS, it forces two overnights in BOS, since you have to position the day before/after.

damnit! i am EXP on AA and was trying to plan a HKG trip and waitlisting with SWUs.

it's probably a better idea to spend a couple hundred bucks more, book in confirmed F, position to HKG using an award, and maybe attempt a status match with UA and go for platinum?

screw it...it's refundable...booked one for next year, we usually go to Asia for our anniversary anyway...this was the perfect excuse

the OP asked for OZ segments. Yes, the UA segment is not an issue and can be booked on united.com

It's primarily available ex-BOS (also BTV and BDL according to others). I have not seen anything at that price thru LAX. Unless you want a crappy 739 for the last two hours, you'll need the SFO routing. Pray for inbound delay from BOS and a misconnect. That way, UA will have to book you on SQ or OZ.

And yes, unless you live in BOS or can get an early redeye into BOS, you will need to overnight.

Yeah, that's what I'll be doing. As it's refundable, I figured better to book something less than ideal immediately and then fool around with it if there's time.

Depends where you want to end up. Try routing back home via ORD, IAD, EWR etc and no need for 2nd overnight in Boston.

Has United ever had an international first class/global first mistake fare before? Could this be the best mistake fare of all time ex-USA?

So, just to make sure I am readying the fare rules correctly:

I can cancel this for a (full) refund before traveling, and for a (half) refund after taking the outbound ex-BOS?

Also, if you really want to maximize PQM, you can route via HNL using something like BOS-EWR-HNL-NRT-ICN-NRT-HNL-EWR-BOS.
Wonder if you can incorporate the island hopper into this routing? Wouldn't that be great....

Where you able to price it with any of those xfers?
While the fare routing rules allow at least 2 xfers stateside (incl HNL ), I can't get it to price. Only the straight BOS-SFO-SEL routing seems to work for that low fare.
