Glad I bought this before I went to bed last night.

Of course my whole trip blows up if I don't get a Saudi visa...

We have a 17 hour and 55 min layover in JED on the way back, between late afternoon and about 8am the next morning. My understanding is that if the transit is less than 18 hours, we don't need a transit visa, and we "may" be allowed out of the airport. Anyone know if this generally works ok, and if you normally do get to leave for the night? Want to book a hotel, but would like to know if its worth it, or a waste of time.

I'm not sure about the visas required for Saudi Arabia, but there's a ton of visa advisories on the U.S. State Department page. However, it seems that for stops of less than 18 hours, no visa is required (and is free!). Could you leave the airport? I'll leave that for more seasoned travelers to comment.

Also, no mileage accrual on Delta, so you'd have to pick a different mileage accrual partner in SkyTeam.
Huh?

Thanks to everybody that did the legwork on this fare.

I booked this on my phone on the night of 11/09 while working 3rd shift. It seemed to be going away, so I grabbed it. Glad that I did.

$556.30 Booked on the Kayak mobile app through Travelocity.

I have 17 hours and 45 minutes in Jeddah. I plan on arriving as well dressed and well groomed as possible. I also have a room at the Jeddah Marriott booked on points, and will have a printed confirmation to show them. So hopefully they will let me out of the airport.

Now to see if I can swing that visit to Kish Island while I am in Dubai!
