I am arranging our visas with myanmarvisa.com for 89SGD pp which although steep it is more of a convenience factor for us. Has anybody had any problems checking in at DMK on FD using their paperwork as "proof" of Visa? Have not gotten their paperwork yet so am not sure how it looks like. Should we get another visa in BKK so we have one in our passport?

Also we are staying only 6 hours in RGN (don't worry, we are coming back in a few months to properly check it out, hopefully that is). And they offered us a half-day tour and inquired about it. We were wondering if any of you had experiences with these folks and their tours?

I had no problems checking using the paper work provided by them when I flew Air Asia from KUL earlier this month. You'll get a letter completely in Burmese and also a list with a bunch of pax names on it who are approved for VOA. I found this list to be potential security issue as it contains everyone's names, b-days, nationality, and passport numbers......

I'm at KL LCCT right now waiting for my flight to RGN on Air Asia.

Had a scare because our young daughter didn't have a visa and the document checker refused to stamp her boarding pass without a visa. We submitted our visa apps at the Myanmar embassy in KL. Went to pick up our visa yesterday afternoon for our flight this morning. To our horror, they returned our daughter passport without a visa stamp, we didn't know why and couldn't understand what the clerk was telling us, as it turned out, her passport ran out of pages for the stamp. We has no choice but went to the airport and hope for the best. Just our luck we got a difficult checker who refused to budge, so I asked for a supervisor, after about 30 minutes wait for a sup, which seems like an eternity. I showed the sup our onward ticket and Visa in transit application, he asked to make copies of the doc and noted the boarding pass "ok to board". We thanked him profusely and he wished us luck.

Update: When we arrived at RGN this morning, the airport staff offered to escort us to the transit lounge without going through immigration. Since we had a long layover, we wanted to get out of the airport for a tour of Yangon. Went to the VOA desk and got the Transit Visa for my daughter for $20 fee and head out of the airport. Hired a car and English speaking driver at the taxi desk on the left after exiting customs. Had a quick tour of RGN and went to Shwedagon Temple and lunched at a nice Burmese restaurant.

Thanks for the data point.^ I read every page of this thread and certain posts seemed to suggest FD out of DMK to be a PIA to deal with. I was going to get an additional visa at the embassy in BKK just to be completely sure but wanted to get anyone's experience doing a same-day RGN turn using myanmarvisa.com paperwork and see if anyone had any recent experiences.

Happy 2013 everybody

Happy 2013 everybody
Happy New Year too

I used this visa agency twice and am satisfied with their services. They are more responsive via call rather than email in case of date change which will require new pax list.

The first time was in September for a 1 night stay (SIN-RGN-SIN) on MI. we had a problem on checking in. We asked for a supervisor and he let us board after signing an indemnity form declaring that Silkair will not be at all responsible. Their understanding was that visa on arrival needs an invitation letter. We explained many times about Pre arranged visa and they didn't understand

Second time was 10 days ago. Route was SGN-RGN-SIN with a 3 hour transit. No problem at all at check in. We did explain to the check in agent that the Burmese letter is the visa approval and the list is proof that we are expected on that date to arrive. So you must have these 2 documents. We were picked by the agent at RGN and she was surprised that we were only for transit. She said for an A-B-C same day connection, we should have got a cheaper transit visa

We're on our way back from RGN, currently in AMS.

Since we are in NJ we did our visas directly through MM Section at the UN. Simply followed instructions on their site, sent everything by FedEx (with a returned FedEx bill) and it was all done in about 7 days, in early December. Cost us $20 visa fee/person, plus the cost of shipping (and photos). Super simple.

We were in Myanmar from Dec. 25 - Dec. 31. Lovely country, I am so glad we decided to spend our time there. Two days in Yangon (more than enough) and 3+ in Bagan (amazing!)

Positioned using UA one way awards, are now flying back on our SQ-plated tickets (RGN-SIN-AMS-JFK) bought back in July(?). Was a bit nervous when checking in at RGN, the Silk Air staff had to fiddle with our tickets, not sure what was going on (took about 10-15minutes). In the end no questions asked.

I'd highly recommend anyone spend time in Burma and not just fly in and out. Will write in another thread about our experience with hotels, travel agents, etc.

Show them the web site. www.singaporeair.com shows SQ997 as 20 minutes late.

Greetings from the Royal Jade Lounge at RGN.

I am on a Round 1 ticket RGN-BKK-ICN-LAX by TG/KE/KE in Y/C/C.

No insurmountable obstacles at TG Y checkin at RGN just now. The reps gave me some grief over the weight of my rollaboard. They couldn't be told that I'd just flown in four hours earlier with the very same bags and the rollaboard went as carrying. They made me transfer some weight to my two checked bags, so my monster roller is now entrusted with my company computer for the trip home. They also argued with me about being overweight for Y. (I offered even before that to buy up to C but they claim to be sold out, as was this afternoon's flight in.) I argued about being in C on KE to LAX, so piece concept at 32 kgs. per bag allowed. I even cited the principal-operating flights rule, on which I was advised upthread. No dice. They wanted $119. I said that we ridiculous for only to BKK, and there's no way I'm paying for overweight bags to LA when I'm certain I'm not overweight per KE rules. A lot of poor communication ensued. Suddenly, when the manager (who'd been involved in this mess all along) clarified that I would check my bags all the way to LA, she said then no baggage fees. That's what I'd been saying all along.

No other checkin issues. They didn't give me KE BP's, said I could collect at BKK transfer desk.

There was some pointing at screens, knowing murmurs, and talk in a language I don't understand (could have been Thai but didn't sound like it, do I assume Burmese). This could have been about the fare paid or about the baggage rules. Nothing was said to me about the fare paid.

Incidentally, I tried to checkin with KE at BKK this morning, so as not to schlep bags here that are only going back now before going onward to Korea and the US. No go. KE desk open for new daytime flight only, no early checkin for night flights. Agent said they had no place to securely store bags for so long.

Should have time to post more from BKK.

BTW: Paid 10USD cash money for lounge access just now. Was not given a receipt.

Update from my end:
It took them 5 hours for the supervisor to authorize to get me a new flight.
Problem: there were issues with online-check-in and it marked my SIN-HND flight asn flown when I didn't even received the BP. I explained that RGN-SIN was 20 mins late. They have to revert the SIN-HND flight and then rebooked me. HND-LAX is full. I convinced the manager to rebook me in SQ F all the way but he can't put me on Suite so I ended up convinced him to book me SQ F SIN-ICN-SFO in F... and another free hotel in SIN... so I guess it turned out ok. I had dinner in Private room now. OK so seems impossible for them to give out Suite class even wen they screw it up...

That worked out pretty well, concorde02.

Greetings from the SkyLounge at Suvarnabhumi. Transit formalities painless. Arrived at remote parking stand, resulting in my third bus trip out of four passes through BKK in two weeks, all thanks to TG's operational convenience. Went to West Transit. I haven't noticed this reported here, so will mention that you now clear security in the area where the Transit Desks used to be on the lower level (Floor 2). If you don't have a BP, the ladies at the security line will want to see your eticket. Then you clear security and go upstairs. There are two Transit Desks on opposite corners of the D/E/F/G junction on the middle level (Floor 3). After obtaining your BP, proceed to the appropriate lounge. Obtains my BP was easy, only passport shown, no questions asked.

Next stop Incheon.

So my RGN-BKK flight is booked in a class that doesn't earn miles.

I've seen upthread that many people have paid to upgrade to First on this flight, by paying cash at RGN.

Is this just an informal upgrade, or does it raise you to a class ticket that awards miles?

Just to provide an update on times for those who might be mailing in for visa -- I sent mine in via UPS on Dec. 7 to the Washington, DC embassy, arrived Dec. 10, they returned it on Dec. 27 and I received it today. Visa is a sticker with my photo printed on it.

just to report: R1, TG-KE-KE, no issues whatsoever. Beautiful country, spent a few days in Bagan - well worth it

I flew in on SQ award ticket (F) - can say that KE is definitely in a lower category in terms of experience, but for ~$360 O/W it was an amazing experience!
