Thanks!

It's not in the spirit of FT to be non-forthcoming. Nor is it in the spirit of FT to be a jerk.

I don't really see HOW this is going to keep secret code/deals from occurring , and making FT more full of people posting "me too" and "I like aa" just to get their post counts up, like they do on bittorrent sites, and like they do here to get access to CC. I would be willing to accept a small (100) post count if they then promised to make the deals out in the open, so that we can stop seeing pages of people BEGGING to know what the deals are, and how to access them. FT has ALWAYS been a friendly place, where people help people. This has a VERY good chance of poisoning that atmosphere. Believe me (and you can see it from my history), I am one for a good deal...I love fare 'deviations', but I think FT may even be opening itself up to some liability issues with hosting a 'secret section' with information on deals like this. As we say over in the Travel Saftey forum, there is no better disinfectant than fresh air. Believe me, the airlines know about most EVERY trick, and if they wanted to stop it (ie if it costed them too much overall) they would...

This is where moderation, IMO, does a great job. People have been banned from CC where it's clear that the only purpose of them being on FT is to get the required posts and get CC access. It's fairly easy to see those that just post "+1" or "" and have a post count of 84. Before I give people hints on FDing etc, I try and look and see if they've posted anything substantial or asked good questions. FT isn't a place for airfare deals per se, so I try and filter out those seeking only that.

After reading a lot of the replies from the more experienced members, I better understand what is being preserved here. I've been making why way through the many pages of the original thread (as many suggested) and have actually picked up a few things (as many said would happen).
As I posted before, I agree that a minimum post count would just encourage a bunch of people to post a bunch of messages about nothing.

being 'upset' that people trick their post count to get access to the 'trick it etc' forum is quite funny,
