Direct flights on Air France, Alitalia and KLM, bookable on Flighthub.ca.

Add the price of a flight from Paris to Florence and you're looking at a reasonably priced trip to several cities in Europe.

Train to Rome if you want to add the Eternal City to the itinerary.
This deal looks like it's back (with slightly higher prices) only this time including Barcelona and Zagreb in place of Florence and covers Jan-early May.

I booked at Flighthub, though it looks to be available through Expedia as well.

All the info is available at a site that discusses deals from Vancouver.

Some nice deals popped up on my Kayak alerts last night...

Sidebar, it seems that the email says "found in the last 24 hours" or whatever and often doesn't come close to the price in the list, also the prices in the list often change...

That being said as someone who keeps track of prices between YVR-MDE, there's some new competition as of next month and it appears to be lowering fares for now.

YVR-MDE on DL various dates in 2016 $750 CAD (roughly)

- Caveat is it requires overnight layover in LAX on the way down since the new ATL-MDE flight too early to catch from any other connection starting at YVR. The best routing involves a red eye LAX-ATL then a 12 hour layover in ATL. So at least maybe one could avoid a hotel room cost there. Bookable directly on DL's site.

YVR-MDE on AM various dates in 2016 $770 CAD (roughly)

- AM is replacing the old MX service and while the red eye from YVR-MEX is great in concept, connections to MDE don't work so well. There's only 1 flight a day and requires an 11 hour layover at MEX, not a great airport for that but cheap hotels are abundant. Connection isn't so bad to BOG as there's 2 dailies.

In either case being someone who travels to MDE frequently, I'm always on the lookout for cheap fares, especially from YVR and on star alliance. But these are two of the cheapest fares I've ever seen, definitely from YVR and possibly from YYZ/SEA/PDX/YYC/YEG/IAH/LAX. Copa offers a great fare from time to time, but anything north of Miami and outside of sweet Copa deals is always at least $850 CAD. So no positioning flight + cheap fare, even as a non-Skyteam customer, I'd happily jump on these if I had the time.

AS: SMF-YKM via SEA or SEA & PDX for as low as $86ow/$172rt

pretty solid for a segment run if anyone is close to a threshold. also a solid price for travel to YKM which is usually about 2x this price out of SMF. even better since SMF-SEA is $82 one way in and of itself on the same dates.

only available Dec 1-16 at this price, then back to the normal levels in early 2016.

Question: do I have to have a credit card in order to participate in the air mileage programs. Are there any alternatives?

First off, your question does not belong to this forum, seeing that you are asking it 2 times already. Simple answer, yes, if you want to accumulate air miles via credit card, then I suggest you read the manufacturing spend forum.

no, ask it in the very first forum - information? If you have a question about a specific air mileage program, ask it in that subforum.

I don't know if this counts as a good deal, but YYZ-PEK/HGK/PVG RT is going for about $860 CAD on AC, or $650 USD. Dates in April at least.

Not a bad price from what I've seen.

YVR-GRU with Aeromexico via MEX for 599CAD/450USD. Should book into V and earn 50% for most mileage programs, which is still a respectable 7k miles and 6.4cpm.
