Hotels in DC
Hi
I'm looking for hotel recommendations in the central DC area (round Dupont Circle preferably, but wider afield would be fine). Is there a thread? I couldn't see one...
I'm looking for more of a funky 'W' than a 70s Hilton, if you know what I mean...
Cheers

Mayflower is nice but pricey. They do run weekend specials around this time of year though. Or at least they have in the past.

It's just a few doors down from the Topaz on N St NW. I've never stayed at either, but I have dined at the Tabard Inn numerous times. The menu is constantly changing, wine selection is quite good, and the service is above average.

I'll third or fourth the Hotel Palamar. Funky, fresh, and (sometimes) affordable.
Also great for location is Jury's ... located right on the circle. Though I have not stayed there and I fear it might be a 70s Hilton issue for you.
Tabard Inn is lovely as well - amazing brunch and quaint rooms.
While I haven't been there, I like the look of Hotel Madara (http://www.hotelmadera.com/maddini/index.html). I've eaten at Firefly (their restaurant) and it's very hip and good. Their rooms might be the same. It's right off the circle.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit but I too have been looking at The Palomar for a DC visit (from Ireland) in April.
One of the great concerns I have is that it is a pet friendly hotel. I believe it has a pet-free floor bt I have visions of dogs and cats running around barking mad.
I have a bit of a phobia when it comes to hygiene and animals. Is this a totally irrational fear? Please tell me that the Palomar is not actually a pet haven. I believe the bar is called The Bark Bar.
If you think I would not be a suitable patron for this hotel please recommend another in The Dupont Area of similiar standards and price range.
Thanks a mil for your help.
