Today's protest has been blocked by security forces keeping the attendees away from the Zocalo, at least so far. Their turnout was low compared to the 15th.

How far in advance are these things planned? Anything happening the first week of December?

Yes, the first week of December is the Pro-President march. It may be met with the anti-government individuals.

There will definitely be more demonstrations/protests also. There's many everyday, of all group sizes. But the pro- government one will be the largest. I forgot the date. I'll come back and post it.

It's on December 6th:

Pro-Government March will take place on December 6th at 9:00 am, at the Angel of Independence. It's a community march and not lead by any government official.

Zocalo is now fortified with large steel barricades

Since the last huge protest, CDMX has increased the strength of the barricades. Hopefully they aren't compromised like they were on November 15th. Several upcoming protests over the coming weeks.

Demonstration: November 25th - International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women

They are putting the finishing touches on their steel barriers. Their marches always end with violence.

The Pro-Government rally went on without any interuptions, and the number of attendees were huge.

This was about the only Anti-Government demonstration held. More comical than anything.

Edit: I think this group was actually protesting and mocking the "GenX" protestors.

We were down there Friday afternoon and they were setting everything up. The Sound system was like any festival I have been to, blasting techno music you could hear for many, many block. Sounded great.

One question, why the barricades around the Palacio de Bellas Artes ?

It seems far from the Zocalo. Is there a reason it might be targeted by protesters?

Also interesting the National Art Museum does not have barricades, but the statue in front does.

They always barricade the Palacio de Bellas Artes. It's one of the MAJOR recognized structures of Mexico.

Protesters always target the most important structures including the cathedral in the Zocalo. They tried to burn it down a few times.

Glad to hear you made it to Mexico City!

*Edit....that museum isn't on the top of protester's list because the government doesn't operate it. Protesters are after government operated supported property like statues etc. They wouldn't target Frida's blue house for instance. Most protests are anti-government.
