One question, why the barricades around the Palacio de Bellas Artes ?

It seems far from the Zocalo. Is there a reason it might be targeted by protesters?

Also interesting the National Art Museum does not have barricades, but the statue in front does.
They always barricade the Palacio de Bellas Artes. It's one of the MAJOR recognized structures of Mexico.

Protesters always target the most important structures including the cathedral in the Zocalo. They tried to burn it down a few times.

Glad to hear you made it to Mexico City!

*Edit....that museum isn't on the top of protester's list because the government doesn't operate it. Protesters are after government operated supported property like statues etc. They wouldn't target Frida's blue house for instance. Most protests are anti-government.
