Status recognized with a priceline booking?
Hello all,
First of all, I did a search on this matter, and the only thread I found is almost 3 yrs old (http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthrea...ight=priceline).
As I have a stay in the SF Marriott coming, I was wondering if my Gold status will be recognized (I booked through Priceline's name your own price) so I will get access to the lounge (and thus breakfast).
Secondly, I have two rooms. Is it likely that both rooms will be upgraded to an executive room?
Thanks!

The real answer is that Marriott will always recognize your elite status. The kicker is that the hotel has to know what that status is. With Priceline type reservations, the hotel will not know your MR# or anything about your elite status unless you tell them. If you call Marriott Reservations and have them apply your MR# to the reservation, you shouldn't have any issues with receiving recognition of your elite status.
As for getting both rooms upgraded, that really depends on the hotel. Per MR T&Cs, only your room should be upgraded (if an upgrade is available.) But if the hotel isn't very crowded, they may be willing to upgrade both rooms. Also, technically per the rules, only those in your room should get CL access. But again, most hotels seem to give CL access to everyone in both rooms. Just be aware though, that those in the 2nd room might not be given access. (Of course, a lot of hotels in the US don't really check what room someone is staying in and whether they really have CL access or not. So it is still possible that those in the 2nd room could still have access through one of the keys to your room.)

As gold, you should get room upgrade (subject to avail, of course); no idea what will they do for the 2nd room. Try to get your own room upgraded first; then politely ask if they kindly upgrade the 2nd to an adjacent room (or on the same floor).
As for CL access, unless you have an army of folks, I would simply take them in at the same time as you enter; take a low profile. (I have seen families with 4-5 people sitting in the lounge on occasion)

Thanks, allset2travel.
I called Marriott just a few minutes ago but the CSR told me she couldn't and the reservation number to my MR# account for some reason? As I don't have a gold card yet (I used the FB Promo to sign up) I'm wondering if they would honor the gold perks..

There is an on-going saying among FTers, that being, "if CSR says NO the first time, call back and talk to another".

If you have not received your MR#, perhaps you should wait till you do.

I have never had any luck getting benefits on priceline. I get the same responses from the phone CSRs no matter how many times I called in the past.

Anyhow, while trying to add my MR# to my reservation, it says:
"We experienced technical difficulties while adding your Marriott Rewards number to this reservation. Please try again later or call 1-800-MARRIOTT."

Wow
No wonder upgrades are becoming fewer and farther between
A priceline booking, comped status, and you want two upgraded rooms and free bkfst and dinner snacks for 4 or 5. Hotels are a business you know, pretty soon we will be reading about all the benefit cuts hotels are making like the airlines.
