I just returned from a PL booked trip to CGN. Got Early CI at 9am, Lounge access (incl. free booze in the evening), Arrival Gift, Breakfast (twice, due to early arrival) and Room at the Club Floor with frontal view on the cathedral - what more can I expect for 50EUR

I've got no issue with PL elite status myself. I've got 180 paid nights this year, and have had 2 nights where i've booked thru PL. I was upgraded to a junior suite and had lounge access. I can see where it can become shady when you get a comped status and then get the elite recognition, but I think if you've earned it thru nights with marriott, then the occasional PL stay with elite recognition is a nice little thing.
BTW, to answer a previous posters question. Occasionlly, on PL stays you get room and point credit but it is rare. I saw it happen once to my parents, and the points were about 360 points on a $50 PL stay, so I'm assuming the hotel got $36 for that night.

A couple of years ago I stayed for 2 nights over Christmas at the Renaissance Prague (RIP) on a Priceline rate. I was only Silver at the time so no upgrade but I got points and night credit. The best thing was that the night credit went towards the Megabonus promo at the time and got me some unexpected bonus points.

I just booked with Priceline and called the reservations number to add my Gold Elite number but was told that I can't because bookings with priceline, expedia, etc can't get points for stays. So I asked about incidentals and they said I can do that at the hotel.
So is it not possible to get the number on in advance? I don't care so much about the room upgrade, but free breakfast and room preferences would be great. Thanks

You should be able to get your MR# added to your reservation before you arrive. Never forget the FT mantra of "if you don't like the answer you just received, hang up and call again."
