This is the sort of thing that should not be answered, and I am suprised that it was even asked.

One more tip. Never, ever post from any computer on your property. Marriott has been known to go to great lengths and expense to track down and find those who do.

LOL, its interesting to me to find out that Marriott really doesnt like employees posting on here. I did, although I wouldnt care to repost some of them. It was never brought to my attention that I shouldnt do it until the GM of the resort i used to work at (I accepted a job at a hotel franchiser and left my Marriott a while back) asked me if I had ever heard of this website. I said yes and he never said anything else about it.
There are a few employees and former employees on here, so your not all alone. Although just to warn you, the BOGO (buy one get one) specials are a touchy topic becuase, somehow universally, front desk associates dont know what to do with them.

I am hopeful that if anyone at Marriot was watching these posts that they would see that I am merely gaining insight on how to better serve our best customers and to utilize certain issues brought up on here as training opportunities for my staff. If we don't take care of our guests someone else will....

By contrast, we have the occasional Starwood hotel exec who posts openly answering questions about their specific property. I've seen several who have done so in my time on FT, including ones from Florida, Ireland, and Spain. I respect this GM for posting, and regret the corporate culture that does not value him/her doing so more openly.

I have reason to believe that GM4Marriott is not who he/she claims to be. While I look into this further, I'm going to close this thread.

Thread is now open again. I have no further questions about this person's legitimacy.

Question for GM

I have a question that I am sure that others would like to know. Bear in mind that this is a general question, but your insite will be appreciated.

Why don't you list the managers e-mail addresses or even a generic hotel e-mail address for your hotels. Why not post them on your Hotel's home page along with the phone number and fax numbers.

An e-mail is a constant in the fast-paced world we live in and it's often easier to type a 30 second e-mail instead of waiting on hold for 15 minutes.

I know that spam is a problem, but I have been given quite a few cards by managers and many even leave them sit on the counter top with all of their contact information. This is nearly as reckless.

I may be a little too trusting, but I believe if you are doing your job and pleasing your customers the you would have nothing to fear. I also believe that you would be suprised at the number of positive e-mails you would receive from travellers too busy to thank you in person.

Cheers!

Smile 2 way street

It is a 2 way street - if you are willing to listen to us, I hope we all are willing to try to understand a GM's point of view when you offer one - SO....

THANKS for being willing to take the time to be on here - a person in a service industry has so little of it.......:-:

That is a very good question and a point never brought up before. I would have to check on this one. The 1-800 number has the email addresses for all the properties and will give it out upon request. If I find out a reason I will post it.
