It's always been 1 night stays and there is one particular property that I never had a problem with and then all of a sudden they said (they did have an owner change) they would only put me on the CL; the other people were not allowed because only the Plat could get the room but I could take them up there. It wasn't a matter of space; it appeared to be a matter of principal - but since I was able to take them to the CL, and the CL rooms do not offer any other amenities, it made no sense. Not a big deal, just curious.

Cheers

Since it is obvious that this is a manager who cares, and sees Marriott elites(Marriotts best customers)as something to be valued rather than be treated as pests(The Marriott norm) I am sure his guest survey score are through the roof.
Thank you for caring GM4Marriott

If you perceive Marriott's as so bad, why do you even bother to become involved in Marriott?

Just curious.

not sure who your post was geared at UAL but for me I'm forced to use a lot of Marriott properties due to my work and the agreements that we have for the areas I travel too.. so for me, I can't leave unless we dump MR

I would guess that the question was pointed toward bigguyinpasadena given his post and his signature.

Because Marriott at one time was a well run orginization-and I have over 500.000 MR points garnered during the 4 years I have been staying with them-so there is investment(more so on my part than on Marriotts lately)in the program-less this year than in last.

Honest question for you then. I understand some of the rants on the customer side of Marriott (now that Im the traveller and not the employee), but Ive noticed about the same number of problems at other chains as well. .... happens i guess. But what is it that makes Marriott such a turn-off for you? Is it the int'l customer service? reservations? the actual people at the hotel? And do you treat the people at the hotel with the same level of comtept that which you post on the MR board (hopefully not)?

Wonderbret,

For me I love the people within Marriott for the most part, but what I am growing tired of is the increasingly rundown properties that I am encountering on an ever increasing basis. From the old TVs, to the extremely worn furniture, to the old fashioned air conditioning units on the outside of the room that some assinine architect decided to place directly next to the "desk" so it is impossible to work if it is on, and beyond.

There are many nicer properties in the same price range just about everywhere I go but the MR program and people keep me coming back. If Marriott properties keep on the downward spiral however I may make the move to the nicer chains in the future though.

I'm sorry, I don't think this is a Marriott GM. Here's why:
1. title of post
2. excessive use of smileys
3. no understanding of Marriott policy re: use of boards
4. inability to answer questions
5. sentence structures a bit odd (just go back and read first sentence, first post)
6. spelling errors
7. too much time on this board, with this thread
8. not responding/participating in other threads (except one, where he asked if he was "needed")
I don't doubt poster might be employed by Marriott, but I really don't get the feel that they are GM.

Bruce re-opened the thread after verifying, so that's good enough for me. Also in some of the PMs I've exchanged w/ the OP. Cheers.

PS - I don't get your 1-8 points implying the person isn't a GM. Heck, all of those could be attributed to most posting on this forum
