First, I am Silver Elite, not Plat. Nonetheless, I phoned and reconfirmed the PL res with the agent via the 800 number. I then requested that my MR number be added to the res.
The agent said that PL reservations don't accrue points. I said yes, I know, but I always seem to get points on incidentals paid, so he said okay, and added the number. ^

Just send them an email, this has always worked for me since the "change booking" link disappeared from the website. You should be able to figure the email address from the forum sticky.

The sure way to do it is by contacting the hotel directly. I always email the property and request that my PL confirmation # be added to my MR account. Of course you give them your MR account # along with mentioning of your Elite Status. The said hotel will acknowledge and add the reservation to your account. Shortly after that, you logon to your MR account, you will see the reservation on record (as said by many posts, not editable). Sometimes (I guess it depends on the property) the hotel will point out that PL reservation will not get you reward points. And sometimes they don't mention it.
I had also tried successfully email the MR concierge. The Concierge said he (she) could not do it but had informed the property and they will honor my request accordingly. The concierge had a rather long (looks like a standard) letter as a response to my request. Sure enough, a day later, I saw the reservation record online.

I called the Silver line and had the same conversation. My reservation now shows up when I log in my account, but does this mean I will receive points or night credits?

I made a booking for 4 rooms last week in Amsterdam and got the Renaissance. Went online today and looked up reservations and was able to edit it with room preferences and added my MR number and changed the address from Priceline to my own without any probems.

Thanks for the tips and btw, Email who?
fwiw, I called the hotel (NOLA Marrott FQ) and was told by the front desk rep that she could make NOI changes to my res. Even when I explained it was for incidentals she, said she understood but there was no way for her to edit/add my MR #.
She added that someone else had just called (also w/ a PL res) and she told them the same thing. The hotel rep did advise me to present my MR# at checkin and that maybe they could add it then.
I then called the MR General Reservation and asked them to confirm my res and add my MR #.
I heard the agent review my res, seemed confused that she couldn't see the rate and asked if I booked it "online". I simply said yes and that all I wanted to do was ensure my MR# was on my upcoming res.
She said, "oh ok no problem", input my MR# and just emailed me a confirmation.
Nice to know I'm all set and have one less thing to deal with upon arrival.
Now if only Chase would get their act in gear and make a decision on my Marriott card app.

This person is correct. For stays booked through third parties (Expedia, Priceline, etc) they are technically not eligible to earn night credit, points, or elite benefits. Most of the time, however, hotel associates will provide some benefits or recognition if you tell them or show them your card.
Your best bet is to get the hotel staff and especially the reception or front desk associates involved. They are the ones responsible for submitting points to Marriott Rewards for credit and also for arranging benefits.
Customer Service representatives are usually bound by what the official policy says. Because they're being monitored and scored, they sometimes can't "say it like it is" even when it's asked directly. Hotel associates can be more candid and easy-going because they are (usually) not being recorded.

FYI the above is not correct...you can book retail rates via the above, I believe what you were trying to say is "Wholesaler" rates were not eligible to receive night/point credit regardless of how they are booked

Yes, I apologize for generalizing. Wholesale rates were to what I was refering.
