Adding MR # to Priceline bookings

I've read in the past on here that you can have your MR # added to your Priceline bookings. I just tried that with 3 different agents and all said they could not do it. What gives? Is there some sort of secret handshake involved? ;)

I've never heard of this for MR or any other program. In fact, in my experience, one downside to booking Priceline is that you lose the ability to participate in rewards programs.

Last summer I booked a "3.5 star" property in Charleston, SC via Priceline. It turned out to be an old Holiday Inn in so-so condition at best. Terrible deal. I caught that Priceline actually booked me for $10/nite higher than the published rate. After 2 emails they did reduce my rate to the published rate, but I incurred their fee and was not able to get the points. I stopped messing w/Priceline at that time. Now, I have enough points to get rewards rooms, so it's moot for the time being.

Just to clarify, I am not looking for points or credit. I want it added for the Plat gift, concierge level access and possible upgrade. Of course I would expect points for any Incidentals, too.

Got it. Can't help with your question (maybe someone else can), but this might be one of those times where brandishing the actual Plat card that no one seems to carry might help with what you want.

Adding MR number to Priceline bookings

What I do is call the 800 reservations number after I receive my confirmed reservation from PL that is at a Marriott property. I make this call to confirm the PL reservation, and to add my MR number to my res on Marriott's record. I also do this with other brands (Hilton, Hol Inn, etc.)

Usually upon check-in, they will recognize your status, and give you the benefits associated with membership (free newspaper, etc.). Sometimes you get points for the stay, sometimes not...usually not nowadays. I have on a few occasions been upgraded to club/concierge levels immediately upon check-in with a PL reservation; I guess it depends on the occupancy load and the front desk clerk who is checking you in.

However, in most cases, you'll always get points for any incidental charges you incur over and beyond those covered by Priceline (i.e., restaurant/bar charges, room service, in room movies, etc.) Depending on the brand property you're staying at, some such incidentals are n/a for point accumulation.

Nonetheless, a handful of points from a PL stay are better than none!

ESPECIALBOB - I have called the Plat Reservations line 3 times and been told they cannot add my number to Priceline reservations.

Exactly what you are looking for IS allowed, if you run into additional problems I would contact the hotel directly and ask them to add your number

Oh, so the "agents" you referred to in your original post are MR CSRs? I assumed your were talking to PL agents.

OK. Now I can help. Call the Plat line again. The secret code words are "Come in Bandit, this is Rubber Ducky." BUT, you have to say it twice.

I stayed at the Renaissance Prague over Christmas on a Priceline stay. As soon as I received my confirmation no., I viewed it on the Marriott site and then added '1 King Bed' to the room prefs and my MR number too. Not only did I get the points, I also got the night credit and to top it all, it gave me what I needed for 5000 bonus points as part of Megabonus

Priceline reservations are non-editable on marriott.com (or at least mine are).

Mine did become non-editable a few days after I had made the changes so maybe I was just lucky.

They were all editable a few months ago, nowadays the link has been removed.

Present your card at check in. The FD clerk will be able to override anything imho. You should get your points for incidentals if it is a FS property.

This part is what I would recommend. On any type of priceline stay I always call the hotel directly and not central reservations. Never had a problem. The front desk clerks always say, "You won't get any points for the room". I say that I understand and I just want points on my incidentals. Usually get all of my benefits from the chain, just not points on room rate.

I was trying to avoid having to call Sydney, Australia, but it looks like that is what I need to do. Really hoping for an upgrade so I don't want to wait until we show up.
