How are the new Marriott beds?
Over the years there has been a lot of controversy over Marriott beds - from the 4" rubber to the thicker ones recently in use. But now they are promoting an even newer bed and linens.
My questions: Is it an improvement? How do you know which hotels have the new bedding?
I have a Cat 6 certificate to use before the end of the year and want to put it to good use.

Secondly, my stays are usually at Fairfield Inns, but they have also upgraded their beds, and I've found them to be a major improvement over what was there before. I'm sleeping a lot better since the change over.

I've beta tested the bedding at a Courtyard in Virginia and by comparison, it was a HUUUUGE improvement.
I doubt they're on par or better than the current stuff at full service Marriotts but it was definitely an improvement over the stuff I've seen at Courtyards, Fairfields and SpringHill Suites
You can find which hotels already have the bedding here:

I can't get the link to work (I get to the webpage and it hangs up on "opening") but from the description I experienced a new bed in the Westcheser Ren.
No question - the newest mattress is very, very comfortable as are the abundance of pillows.
Had I been asked the only thing I'd suggest changing would be to emulate the Westin Heavenly Bed "technology" by adding a layer (think it's called a "down" blanket under the "duvet" which is somewhat heavy and I personally find it too warm and heavy (though that's probably a minority opinion).
However, if Marriott continues to leave a standard blanket in the closet, for me it's case closed.
I did experience the Marriott version of the Heavenly Bed in the Ren Del Monte Lodge in Pittsford, NY. Only discernible difference between it and the Heavenly Bed was the color of the cover of the thick comforter/duvet which comprises the topmost layer.
I think beds, pillows, linens etc etc are a matter of personal taste and the one I prefer is in our home (and I would guess that holds for many).

I'm currently at the Renaissance Stanford Court in San Francisco. They have the new mattress cover (several inches of padding), but the same old mattress under it. They do have the new duvet, but I thought the new beds were going to have multiple sheets. All the bed has is the duvet/comforter.
Still comfortable, just not everything I was expecting.

From the description, I've had the experience last weekend at the SEA-TAC Marriott (a wonderful hotel, by the way), and the new beds are marvelous!
They're comparable to the Sheraton version; can't say which is the better since my most recent Sheraton experience was some time ago, but it would be a close race.

I think the new beds are great. They've been in for about a month at the Marriott Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

And it does serve to punctuate my post, above.
IMHO the Sherator Sweet Sleeper Bed doesn't compare with the Westin Heavenly Bed.
I've always equated Sheraton w/ the Marriot (FS) brand and Renaissance more with Westin.
When originally announced (back in January) I seem to remember the new beds and bedding as being announced for both Marriott brands with other configuration(s) for Courtyard, Residence, Springhill, etc. etc..
That "revive" link supplied in another thread (illustrating all aspects of the new room designs) doesn't mention Renaissance (although I may have missed it).

Stay away from the Providence, Rhode Island property. They should be ashamed of themselves. It's more like a motel than a hotel with bad smells, old furniture and old carpets. Digusting. I spoke to the Manager who said they were planning to redecorate soon; then he immediately turned and walked away.
