Change name on reservation
A friend with no status made a non refundable reservation and I would like to put it in my name to get the nights credit, is this doable. The room is also prepaid. I think the answer will be NO but I have to see what you experts say. Thanks

If you were going to be there and get your name on the reservation (as a 2nd person in the room), you could probably show your id/MR card and possibly get the points. But in general, the primary name on the reservation is the one who will get the night credits and points. But even there, per the rules, that person technically needs to be the one checking in (and in most cases paying).
Sometimes hotels don't check or care and will allow someone else to check-in even if their name doesn't match the primary name on the reservation. But I wouldn't rely on that happening all the time (especially outside NA). And a hotel could make the other party (even if their name is on the reservation) wait until the primary shows up before checking them in which could be a major pain if the primary is not planning on ever showing up.

If you want to change the name on the reservation, just call in (either to the Reservations line or directly to the hotel), and let them know you need to change the name on the reservation and make sure to give your Marriott Rewards Number. It's not a big deal, they have name changes all the time.
Since you will be checking in together you shouldn't have any problems (if you weren't going to be there, there could be issues).

A “stay" or "qualifying stay" means all consecutive nights a Rewards Program Member registers and personally pays and stays at any Rewards Program participating hotel, for which the room is billed to the Member.
