concierge level access question
I stay at the hotel MANY times. I've learned that they r the rare few the take pride on satisfying their elites. This particular night the SHS was super cheap compared to the FS.
The moderator needs to visit the Westshore Marriott to give an accurate opinion!! No pun intended again.
cheers!!!!

Can a gold or plat be denied access to an open lounge if they are paying with points?

Though there are important exceptions to the role, for example, the St. Pancras Renaissance in London. The club at this location, the Chambers Club, is a private club that is made available to Platinums but not to Golds. They do, however, provide breakfast and, I believe, drinks elsewhere for Golds.

I checked in to my room and called over to the Marriott. I talked to the manager on duty and gave him my rewards number. He acknowledged that I was a platinum member and welcomed me over. I was issued a key that just opens to the CL. I was even thanked for my loyalty and my numerous stay at their hotel..
I think the moderator was off on his prediction. No pun intended.

Thanks for that. Now I know not to stay at the westshore. I feel no need to give my revenue to a property that gives away bennies to freeloaders.

It's the old adage: If you don't ask, you don't get. Didn't sound like the OP had a DYKWIA attitude. Sounded like OP was willing to take no for an answer.

Sorry. Disagree. If I'm paying exec level prices I don't want some cheapskate who is staying at a 2nd tier property for less coming over and having breakfast and evening apps for free when I'm paying for it. If that's the case, why would anyone ever stay at a full service propertywhen they know they can stay at the local FI, RI, CY, SHS and just meander over. It just boggles my mind , given so many complaints on lesser things in this forum, that anyone would think freeloading at a property one is not staying at is ok.
I have FS properties I stay at regularly and have for several years. Occasionally my budget doesn't allow me to stay @ those properties, so I go with the lesser brands or other properties even if they're not lesser brands. I accept that when I am staying at those properties that I get a stay for a reasonable cost. I also acknowledge that I won't have all the amenities. Never has it crossed my mind to freeload or put the property in the ackward position of trying to figure out what to do by asking to freeload.
Cheers

I'm not even sure the OP's logic would stop at Marriott hotels. Maybe next time I'm in Dallas I'll stay at the Sheraton and take the skyway over to the Marriott and use the lounge there... Of course, like you, I would never think of doing this. It's just bizarre. When I book at a CY, SHS, FI, or RI, I know what I'm getting, and what I'm not getting (a lounge). Folks who've read my posts over the years know that I like to see if hotels will go above and beyond for me (upgrades, three in the lounge without extra charges, etc.) but this is going too far.

This type of entitled behavior is beyond the pale, but, very sadly, there no longer is any pale.

Yes, that's a better analogy--thanks! (And I'll drink the free drinks and eat the free snacks in the Mercedes customer lounge while I wait! *lol*)
