Socrates, I don't know what magic buttons you pushed or strings that you pulled but when I arrived at the Princeton Courtyard Tuesday night they had my reservation all set for a smoking room. In addition I was upgraded to a suite. Iwas so shocked I almost fell over. I have never received a upgrade at a Courtyard. As a matter of fact I didn't even know they had suites at Courtyards. Don't know if you had anything to do with the upgrade but just getting a smoking room without having to ask at the desk is enough for me. Now the only question I have is: Is this a permanent change to my record so that I should not have a problem having a reservation set for a smoking room from now on or was this a one time special fix that you did for me?

I have had similar problems with my corporate travel agency. After several late checks in and getting stuck with smoking rooms, I found out that it seems the agency can only enter the non/smoking "request".
Thus I always now call Marriott after placing my reservation through my corporate travel agent and have Marriott "confirm" my preference. Very inefficient and annoying but it beats the alternative.

I have always had the same problem with Marriott reservations booked through my corporate travel dept. Starting about a year ago, I gave up on booking hotel through travel -- I let them book air, and then I book travel through the Marriott web site. Then, if there's a problem, I know for a fact that my preferences were part of the reservation. It's unfortunate that Marriott's systems still don't reflect profile information when a res is booked through a TA (even though the MR # is clearly in the record), but at least this is a decent workaround (especially since I can almost always find rates lower than our "negotiated contract rate")...

Socrates,
On a similar note, when making reservations on line I always request a ground floor room at the Residence Inn I stay at in Pensacola, FL. When I check in, they give me a room on the 3rd floor and I ask if there were no rooms available on the ground floor. They usually say yes and move me. After this happened several times I asked why they do not read the part of the reservation where I have made "non-guaranteed" room requests, like foam pillows etc., the hotel claims that part of the reservation does not come through to the hotel from corporate. So, is this hotel correct?

Another way requests are not seen is if reservations are made by Travel Agents. Numerous reservations will come through to a property with nothing more than Arrival Date, Departure Date, Rate, Guests name, Room Type request and Travel Agents IATA number.
No address, phone number, rewards number, or requests.
